here's my hello don't say goodbye tags: open, although this could be a solo thing to kickstart the Seer plot
here's my hello -- blake lewis words: 187 date: Mon Oct. 9, 2023 It was probably a hoax. He knew that. He knew it probably wasn't real, but… hey, even if it was, it could be an interesting time, right?
Eddie bit his lip and tore off one of the strips that had the cell phone number dangling from the bottom of the ad. The ad itself mentioned testimonials from previous years, and Eddie figured he could ask around, see if this was a yearly thing.
What if there was a possibility of the ad being real? What if this Seer person could contact the dead? What if this Seer could contact Eddie's parents?
He wasn't quite sure what he'd ask if his parents could be contacted. Had it hurt to die? Eddie hoped their deaths had been as painless as a car crash could have been. Were they proud of him so far? Could they even keep an eye on him, watch over him, or were they stuck in some sort of afterlife where their spirits couldn't interact with him outside of a medium?
…Did they care that he was a mutant? Did he want to know that answer?

"Anything good on there?"
Mason had spotted Eddie staring at the school's community bulletin board and, knowing how social Eddie could be, Mason guessed something interesting appeared on it. Glancing at the notices over Eddie's head, Mason didn't see anything really new. Still, there must have been something that made Eddie pause on the way to their next class.
"Looking at the dance notice?" Mason asked, wondering if Eddie would be the type to help make sure a Halloween Dance would happen at the school. Mason had been curious about that, he had to admit. If the dance itself happened, Mason would make an appearance, but he wasn't so into the idea that he would head up a fundraising effort for it. If someone asked, he'd help out, but he did not want to be in charge of the thing.
Mason then noticed that Eddie seemed a little subdued and asked, "You okay, man?"

you taunt me I'll stand here waiting for you here's my hello -- blake lewis words: 166 notes: nada Eddie did not jump, thank you very much, when Mason appeared to ask him about what he was looking at on the community bulletin board and then subsequently asking if he was okay.
Considering they were mutants themselves, would Mason be the type to believe in someone who could contact the dead? Some mutant somewhere has to have that kind of ability, right?
Still, Eddie wasn't sure if he wanted to blurt out, "Oh, hey, I'm going to text this totally legit person named Seer to see if I can talk to my dead parents," even to a friend. The dance was a safer topic.
Eddie smiled up at Mason and said, "Yeah, I'm fine, no worries. I was looking at the dance notice, finding it weird that we'd need to do a fundraiser for it. Bayville High really that broke? They could just up the ticket price a little, right?"
He paused before asking, "Would you go to the dance if it gets put on?"

Yeah, something was up with Eddie.
Mason didn't want to pry. It really wasn't any of his business. Yet, he did frown a little when Eddie gave him a sudden smile and started talking about the dance and the apparent money issues Bayville High had since the student body would need to help with the fundraiser. Mason guessed that Eddie could be deflecting, taking the subject of the Halloween Dance to distract both of them from whatever was actually bothering Eddie.
...Of course, Eddie could just be tired (it was Monday, after all) and he really was thinking about the dance. Mason didn't have enough evidence other than his suspicions to say otherwise.
As such, Mason took Eddie's question in stride and said, "Yeah, I'm game for a school dance. Heh, if Mom found out I was going, she'd probably volunteer to chaperone. Don't know if that would cramp my style or not."

I lose my mind here's my hello -- blake lewis words: 169 notes: I'm good to finish this little thread? Thanks for being there for the intro to this plot! Yes, good. Mason was talking about the school dance, which was much better than trying to ask about anything else from Eddie.
Mason mentioned the possibility of his mother chaperoning the Halloween Dance, and Eddie grinned up at him. "Your mom's pretty cool," he said. "She wouldn't be the worst chaperone. Imagine if Sie--Ms. Parker was one?" Eddie's voice turned to a whisper, half-joking with his statement. Sierra wasn't bad at all, but she was definitely one of the more serious adults that Eddie knew in his life.
Besides, he figured that Sierra would want some time away from all the new recruits. Seeing them all day at school, living with them, and then keeping an eye on them while they danced? He was sure she would welcome a break from their presence.
As Mason and he walked towards their next class, Eddie made sure to put Seer's phone number in his pocket. He'd contact her a little later, see what needed to happen to set up a meeting.
