sun dec 3, 2023 | 221 words | completely open! | random thread for some snow fun with whoever wants to join in! This was Bobby's element. Figuratively and literally.
With the winter months came a healthy dose of snow and ice, and that was where Bobby found himself now. He was "iced up," his entire body a sheen of ice to better allow himself to enjoy the mounds of snow that decorated the mansion's grounds. He was having a blast playing around with his powers, using the cold that was already in the air to easily create snow forts and snowmen (some that may or may not have looked like the other members of the institute). An ice slide was constructed over one such fort, a spiraling tunnel that landed in a fluffy pile of soft snow. Bobby dove through it, delighted as he landed in the snow before popping back up to the surface.
He probably should be using his powers to help clear off the driveway and paths, but he was having a little too much fun slacking off at the moment.
Bobby's gaze caught sight of someone else outside in the yard. Whether the other person was just coming out to check on something quickly or was trying to enjoy the snow as much as he was, Bobby wasn't sure. It didn't matter. No matter who it was, being outside gave Bobby the right to hurl a perfectly-formed snowball their way...

(Words: 223 Tags: Iceman, open to everyone who wants a snowball fight!)If Kitty were still here, Kurt would have teleported a batch of snow right into her room. She'd be so mad, but she wouldn't be able to resist the urge to chase him outside and attempting to pelt him with snowballs. With one of them being able to teleport out of the way and the other allowing snowballs to phase right through her, they used to start epic snowball fights. And then Bobby showed up and, well... Having someone who could turn himself into ice definitely helped rope so many of the other students (and some teachers) into the snowball fight. Kurt was watching his breath cloud in the cool air, his tail languidly swishing back and forth behind him. His gloved hands were stuffed in his coat's pocket and he had a hat jammed on over his head. He was just enjoying the cool air when a snowball smacked him in the back of the head. "Ach! Who--?" Kurt whirled around, more confused than anything else really, until he spotted the giant constructed ice slide across the yard. With a fanged grin, Kurt scooped up an armful of snow and teleported over to the slide. "Heads up!" With quick movements, Kurt teleported over Bobby's head, dropped the armful of snow, and teleported behind one of the snow forts. The war was on.

Bobby had grinned to himself when his snowball hit true, and it barely faltered when he realized he had hit Kurt. His grin only briefly flickered out when Kurt teleported away and reappeared above Bobby to drop an armful of snow on him.
"Ack!" Bobby's hair was soaked with the snow, and he almost tripped as he tried to dive out of the way, but it was simple for him to retaliate when he caught sight of where Kurt had landed again. He had tossed a couple of more snowballs at Kurt, but it became apparent that he wasn't the only one.
Nevertheless, a delighted grin graced Bobby's features since someone was brave enough to continue staying out in the cold for a good, ol' fashioned snowball fight.
Well, as old fashioned as it could be with mutants.
"Alright!" Bobby darted towards a fort while simultaneously icing up another wall to make it bigger. "Literal Cool Kid versus Boring Headmaster! Kurt, you're not allowed to cross over to my fort because that is the rule I just totally made up. Hopefully someone else comes out to join your team, because mine is obviously the superior one...!"
His words ended as he dove behind the fort wall and sending another snowball at Kurt.

Tag: Nightcrawler Iceman open! Words: 190 Willow had laughed out loud upon seeing Bobby bean Kurt with a snowball only for the esteemed headmaster himself retaliate with an impressive use of his mutant abilities. Willow herself had been watching out her bedroom window at seeing Bobby make magnificent sculptures out of ice and the snow, and had been berating herself for taking so long on her homework. The sooner she finished her homework, the sooner she'd be able to go outside and play in the snow.
Seeing two of the so-called adults of the manor outside and playing, though, made Willow rethink that she had plenty of time to finish her homework for the night. That, and she could always touch it up in the morning during breakfast, right?
With that sound logic, Willow leaped out of her bedroom window and into a nearby tree, morphing into and scaling down the trunk as a monkey. With a gleeful cackle, Monkey-Willow ran as fast as she could over the powdered snow and dove into one of the forts near Kurt. Using her dexterity, Monkey-Willow hurled snowballs at Bobby, fully okay with being on the Boring Headmaster team.

Words: 157 Tags: Iceman Flashpoint Critter open!Kurt had laughed at Bobby's team names despite getting hit by other snowballs. "Very creative names, mein Freund," he teased, and teleported away in a puff of brimstone smoke before Bobby's next snowball could hit him.
He reappeared high above the fort, tossing more snow down at Bobby before teleporting away to the other side of designated battlefield, finding another half-created fort to duck down behind. It wasn't too long before he heard the chatter of a monkey and Kurt presumed it was Willow. He highly doubted a monkey escaped from the zoo and was intelligent enough to pick the correct team for a snowball fight.
"Excellent, Willow!" Kurt said. "If you feel so inclined, I wouldn't mind if you decided to transform into a larger animal to destroy his fort. Make him fight out in the open instead of hiding like a coward!"
His own snowballs joined Willow's as they soared through the air towards Bobby.

"Cheater!" Bobby said as Kurt teleported above his fort to toss more snow down on him. Bobby blasted away most of the snow with his ice, and was then momentarily baffled at seeing a monkey appear and apparently choose Kurt's side in the snowball fight. Bobby figured out the monkey was Willow right before Kurt called her name, and Bobby grinned.
"Et tu, Willow?" Bobby said. "C'mon, I'm your mentor! How dare you not choose my side?
"You know what, actually, that's okay," he added. "Kurt definitely needs the help more than I do...!"
With that said, Bobby bulked up his iced form, creating icicle spikes on his shoulders to help protect himself from any other airborne attacks. He also whipped up a couple of snowmen around his fort, guards to help slow down Kurt and Willow when it came to their little war. The guards wouldn't really move, of course, but Bobby was guessing that one day he'd be able to animate them if he practiced enough.
For now, though, he just created them to be more obstacles in Kurt and Willow's path as Bobby himself sent more snow flying in their direction.

Tag: Iceman NightcrawlerWords: 162 Monkey-Willow chittered out a laugh as both Kurt and Bobby goaded her on in their own ways.
She watched with a small amount of wonder as Bobby iced up further and even create a plethora of mini snowmen as makeshift guards. She knew her mentor was strong with his own abilities, but it was great to see him use them so freely outside of their Danger Room sessions.
Kurt had laughed as Willow had joined him, and made a not-so-subtle suggestion of Willow transforming into a bigger animal. She took it in stride, aiming to be a good opponent to Bobby's little minions. Monkey-Willow began charging at the snowmen as she began to transform into an elephant.
With her age, Elephant-Willow was an adolescent herself, being the size of an elephant calf rather than an adult. Still, the size worked well enough as she trumpeted in glee before trying to crash into Bobby's snowmen, her trunk swinging wildly as snow flew everywhere.

Words: 153 Tags: Iceman, Critter"I need more help?" Kurt echoed in mock disdain as Bobby tried to rationalize as to why Willow joined Kurt's side instead of Bobby's. "You just called me a cheater for easily going over your forts...!"
Kurt teleported back behind one of the snow forts he had spontaneously decided was his to make some more snowballs, watching with some interest as Bobby used his own abilities to ice himself up further and create some snowmen to be on his side. He laughed louder when he saw Willow, after she had paused to also watch Bobby do his thing, transform into an elephant to go crashing through Bobby's hard work.
"Mein Freund, you may need to make some sturdier teammates," Kurt called out to Bobby. Kurt himself popped up from behind his snow fort and chucked a few snowballs at Bobby. Two were thrown by hand while a third was thrown by his tail.

Bobby watched in some fascination as Willow transformed from a snowball-flinging monkey to a baby elephant crashing through his snowmen.
"Aw, c'mon...!" Bobby laughed as Willow broke down some of his defenses, and he tried to slow her down just a touch by icing up the ground beneath her feet. He made sure to get out of the way, certain that he didn't want an elephant -- even one on the smaller side -- to slide into him and knock him over.
He wanted to call out Kurt for cheating again when he noticed that Kurt was using his tail, but it was a moot point at this time during their little snowball war. A snowball smashed into Bobby's face as he threw more at his opposition, making it so he couldn't quite see where he was aiming.
While Bobby himself could probably keep going with the snowball fight, he was conscious of how long they had been outside chucking snow at each other. Eventually, Bobby threw up both of his hands and said, "I give! Team Boring Headmaster won this battle!"

Tag: Nightcrawler, IcemanWords: 163 Notes: Sounds good to me! This will be my last post. Elephant-Willow gave a little celebratory trumpet sound as she knocked down a couple of the snowmen, but then Bobby iced up the ground right in front of her. Her trumpeting died into an odd-sounding squawk as she slipped, the action making her lose her transformation. Willow herself burst out laughing even as she slid across the icy path to a stop.
"Good!" Willow said in between her laughter as Bobby decided to give up. She was still flat on her back, dressed not quite for the weather. Instead, she was still in her jeans and sweater that she had worn for the day. Evidently, she hadn't thought to truly dress for a snowball fight before climbing down from her bedroom window as a monkey when she had spotted the two men starting their war.
"I should probably get back inside," Willow said, huffing out puffs as she spoke and tried not to let her teeth chatter. "Hot chocolate sounds really good right now."

Words: 156 Tags: Critter Iceman to see Notes: Sounds great! I'll lock and move this. Thanks for the thread!Kurt got a couple of snowballs to the face and torso courtesy of Bobby, and he returned them as best as he could. Fluffy snow exploded when Willow crashed through and destroyed the snowmen, and Kurt couldn't help but laugh along with Bobby and, when she had transformed back, Willow when it happened.
"Wunderbar!" Kurt said when Bobby gave up, teleporting over to Bobby to bring him down into a friendly headlock to ruffle his hair when he wasn't iced up. "Let's be honest. Ice may be your element, but you did not stand a chance against Willow and me!"
Willow was on the ground, having lost her transformation after slipping on ice, and it took Kurt a moment to realize that she was not dressed for the weather. He teleported over to help her to her feet. "Ach, meine kleiner," he said. "Let's get you inside. Perhaps we'll enjoy that hot chocolate by the fire."
