Date: Wed. Nov. 8, 2023 Tag: FlashpointWords: 176 Notes: Possibly open to the other teachers -- as this is the middle of the day, the students should be at school, lol -- a bit later, if TC wants to. Sierra had remembered the name Keith Lennox. It had been buried in her memory, but it was there nonetheless. She had never seen the man, but it was a name that was once spoken about years ago as another potential new recruit when the current generation of adults had been teenagers themselves.
Of course, when Keith contacted them about his own daughter, they weren't going to turn the family away.
Sierra had taken the day from Bayville High in order to greet Annabelle when she arrived at the Xavier Institute. She was guessing -- and hopeful -- that she would be able to help Annabelle not only ease into the manor itself but to also help her get settled at Bayville High. It was stressful enough to start at a new school, but a new public school a few months already into the academic year could be worse.
As such, Sierra was waiting in the foyer of the manor for the newcomer to arrive, busying herself with budget reports for the high school and Danger Room statistics alike.

The Xavier Institute... Anna had heard the name of the place from her father when she had first asked about his mutation. Mutations were normal in her family on his side, just another topic no different from say sports or shows or work. In fact, it was often encouraged among them to be open about their mutations, not wanting it to be a true shock when their abilities set in or the off chance they didn't get abilities at all. Her mother was another story obviously, but she had taken in stride otherwise she wouldn't be there to begin with. Plus with their traveling schedules, her father couldn't dedicate the proper time to train her himself. Though a little nervous about meeting other mutants outside her own immediate and extended family, Anna had taken the suggestion in stride herself, hoping the experience might help her grow by other means. It had only been a couple weeks since her powers made themselves known, but she was nevertheless eager to see how she might grow in her own right, having used those two weeks to prep herself, pack, and say her good byes. And if she did need anything her grandparents still resided in Bayville so it wasn't like she would be completely out of contact. Plus she was somewhat familiar with the area when they visited her paternal grandparents often, so at least it wouldn't be a totally strange place. Except this side of town was. The area near the Institute was...fancy, a place her family never had reason to visit until now. Her grandmother had been kind enough to offer to take her herself, pulling up to the round about in front of the mansion. " Are you sure you want to go in alone?" Her grandmother was naturally concerned, worried her granddaughter might feel overwhelmed. But the brunette merely shook her head, offering her grandmother a reassuring smile, " I promise grandma, I'll be fine! Besides, I can always let you know how it goes later!" Anna assured her, grabbing her bags and saying a final good bye before watching the car roll away. From there, it was all up to her. Letting out a small exhale, Anna turned to look up at the manor for a moment before making her way up the stairs, shifting one of the dufflebags further under her arm and knocking hard and loud to get someone's attention. Tags:GigabyteNotes: I don't mind it being later in the day if someone's interested in throwing one of the recruits in! Maybe just keep it open just in case?

Tag: Flashpoint, open! Words: 196 Notes: That makes more sense, lol. Amending the time so it's a little later in the afternoon to allow new recruits to "crash" through the tour when returning home from school. The knocking was loud and clear, not demanding nor rushed. The security network had already informed Sierra of a car rolling to the front, as she had asked it to, so she was prepared. It took only a few seconds for Sierra to shuffle her paperwork back together in some semblance of a pile before opening the front door.
Sierra smiled at the young woman before her. "Ms. Lennox, I presume?" she asked, stepping aside to let the teenager in. "I'm Sierra Parker, one of the instructors here and the principal of Bayville High School. It's a pleasure to meet you. May I help you with your bags?"
Sierra glanced outside, seeing the car leave, and figured the family had decided this was a pivotal moment for Annabelle to get through herself. As such, Sierra allowed the teen a moment to look around the foyer and possibly get used to living in a manor such as this.
"Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns at any time," Sierra said. "Otherwise, I figured we could start with a small tour and I can give you a bit of background on the Xavier Institute."

It didn't take long for someone to answer the door. Actually, Sierra answering the door probably could have been record timing in her opinion. " Yes ma'am! It's a pleasure to meet you Ms.Parker!" Anna both confirmed and greeted the older woman with a great deal of enthusiasm. Admittedly, a part of her was nervous to what the future would hold living at the mansion, but that didn't stop her excitement from taking over. " Oh and yes please, I might have overpacked..." Anna looked a little embarrassed, having packed two dufflebags and a suitcase. Mostly, she hadn't known what to expect and had taken her mother's words of being over prepared perhaps a little too close to heart. But with Sierra's help it would make things much easier as she stepped into the mansion foyer, eyes widening to the size of dinner plates as she took in her new living space. Holy crap was the place huge and fancy, and she was pretty sure her family's house back in Florida could fit into the front entry way of the mansion without a problem. " Wow this is...huge." She remarked with a soft whistle, but still nonetheless listening as Sierra spoke further. She really had to focus. Pushing aside her amazement, Anna focused back on Sierra, listening as the woman explained who she was and offering a tour of the place. She was definitely going to need it, and maybe a few days to get use to the layout. " The principal and an instructor...sounds tiring." The teen commented before smiling, " But a tour would be great, I can already tell I might get lost for a bit." Anna shifted her dufflebags to her opposite arm, " And I know a little about the Institute, would be interesting to know more since my father thought highly of this place even though he didn't come here himself." Tag: Flashpoint, open Words: 200 Sierra smiled at the enthusiastic greeting, already having a good feeling that Ms. Lennox would fit in well with the other students that were currently residing in the manor. She took the teen's suitcase, was amused at her impressed whistle at the size of the foyer, and said, "It is a little overwhelming at first. I'm sure you'll get used to the layout soon enough. I feel as if the manor looks bigger than it really is.
"What is your preference for what we call you?" Sierra asked. "Do you prefer Annabelle? Anna? Just Ann?"
Ms. Lennox commented that it must be tiring being both an instructor and a principal, and Sierra's smile softened. "It is a challenge," she admitted, "but one I'm glad to take on. My own abilities help. I'm mainly a technopath, able to communicate with electronics. A pleasant side effect is that my mind is very much organized like a computer. Xavier Institute helped me greatly as I grew with my abilities."
Sierra nodded towards the main staircase, saying, "Why don't we start the tour upstairs in the dormitories? I'll show you to your room so we can drop off your belongings and go from there."

Sierra had a point. The manor from the outside did look rather overwhelming, and the inside didn't exactly change that thought. Perhaps Anna was so use to smaller houses, even a two story house like her and her parents lived in, it just felt overwhelmingly large by perspective. Given time, she likely would know the mansion like the back of her hand as she did with places she had come to visit so often. " It's definitely going to take getting use to." Anna agreed hoping the tour might help map something in her mind after she got settled in. " The dorms sound like a great place to start." For a moment, Anna wondered if she would have a roommate in the dorms. Given the boarding school-like feel of the mansion, she wouldn't doubt that she might have to share a room with another student making her all the more curious of those she would meet there. " Oh, and Anna is just fine! I don't mind Annabelle, but Anna is usually what everyone calls me." She answered in regarding to Sierra's inquiry about her name as they started heading up the stairway. As they walked, Sierra went into detail regarding her own mutant abilities, emphasizing how it helped not only connect and communicate with electronics but made her organization much more efficient. " Damn, that sounds cool!" Anna paused realizing what she had said, " Er, sorry, I mean that sounds cool and efficient, bet it makes this day and age a cakewalk for you." She corrected herself in embarrassment knowing talking like she did with an adult probably wasn't exactly the best. That was definitely her excitement getting the best of her. Tags: Gigabyte, open!

Tag: Flashpoint, open Words: 274 "You'll have plenty of people around to help you as you get used to the manor," Sierra assured Anna. Sierra shared a smile with Anna when the teenager expressed what she thought of Sierra's abilities. Dryly, she said, "Don't worry. Being a principal of a high school, I've heard far worse. I thank you for the enthusiasm."
Sierra brought Anna down the hallway, pointing out a few of the dorms and the restrooms as she did so. "On the left, room 200 belongs to Roy Kingsley and Eddie Ross. Roy has been at the institute the longest and is wonderful at guiding everyone else. Eddie, I'm sure, will introduce himself as soon as he can to you, as he's very social. Next door, room 202 has Mason Perez and Noah Beckett. Mason is always willing to help as well, and I'm certain Noah would if he can, but he's probably the shyest of the group.
"Here on the right in room 201," Sierra continued, opening the door to reveal it, "is where you will be with Willow Foster. Willow is very friendly and, honestly, I'm not sure who is more social, Eddie or her. I'm certain you two will be able to get along just fine, but please let me or any of the other instructors know otherwise if there are any issues."
The room itself had two twin beds, a couple of dresser drawers, and a decently-sized closet. One side of the room was clearly lived in with plenty of knick-knacks and personal touches, most in an animal or food motif. The other side of the room was clean and ready for Anna.

Anna had to admit, she was relieved that Sierra took her excitement in stride. Some easily got annoyed or weren't impressed with her rather...unsavory vocabulary as some would put it. But given that Sierra worked at a high school, hearing worse didn't surprise her honestly especially since teenagers tended to not care much for what adults said as they got older and paid the consequences for running their mouths. Not that she meant any disrespect by it. " Sorry, I know some people are put off by the excitement, but its my first time hearing about someone else's mutations outside my family, so you might get that a lot from me." She admitted a bit meekly. Once they arrived to the dormitories, Sierra began going into detail about her fellow recruits. There were five others like herself in total, four boys and another girl, most of which seemed pretty out-going from the way Sierra spoke of them. Sounded like her kind of crowd to be honest. She was even more excited than ever to meet the other recruits and find out what they could do, what they liked, and if they had anything in common. Her nervousness that she held earlier was quickly falling away to pure excitement and positivity, being more certain than ever that she would fit right in after all. The third dorm door they reached was the one she would be residing in for as long as she was a student, peering inside with curiosity as the older woman explained a little about her roommate. From the decor, Anna guessed her roommate, Willow, was a big animal love and perhaps a food lover too. " Willow...I'll remember that." She spoke her roomie's name outloud, moving to the opposite side of the room that was presently bare and placed her bags down. " Can't wait to meet her, and the others!" Anna said with a broad grin, vaguely wondering if Willow herself like to cook or bake. If so, maybe they could make something sometime, maybe even find common ground to break the ice between them. Maybe she would have the chance to cross paths with some of them on the tour. Getting her last bag on the bed, Anna rolled her shoulder slightly feeling the familiar annoying tingle of where it had begun to fall asleep. " Those are the dorms, what's next on the tour?" The teen asked as she left her stuff for the time being, returning to follow Sierra, eager to see more of the mansion. Tags: Gigabyte, open!

Mason was thankful for the track team as the weather got a little cooler. The exercise pushed him into staving off the more sluggish tendencies his mutation gave him during the colder weather. He just hoped that the track meets and practices would move indoors when winter came in full force.
He was looking forward to taking a shower with the hot water to both relax and wake up his muscles, his mind focused on that and the homework he had for the afternoon. He had dumped his belongings in his room, it taking a few minutes to realize that he heard not only Sierra coming from a little down the hall, but also an unfamiliar voice. Mason vaguely hoped he didn't smell from track, but was much more interested in investigating whether a new person was in the manor instead of showering at the moment.
Not shy, Mason caught up with Sierra and looked into the dorm room that the teacher was standing by. There was a young woman by the other bed, and Mason grinned. "You're not Willow," he stated, although the two girls did have some similarities. Shorter statures, hair color on the dark side, fair in skin, but this new young woman was more angular and lithe.
Certain Sierra wouldn't mind, Mason reached over to with a ready handshake to the newcomer. "I'm Mason Perez. Nice to meet you!"

Tag: Flashpoint, Incognito, open! Words: 164 "Excitement is fine," Sierra said with a small smile. "Considering everyone else and the myriad of mutations currently in the institute, I wonder how long the excitement will last before it changes into normalcy for you.
"Even at Bayville High," Sierra continued. "You will most likely encounter others that are also mutants there and do not live here. As the principal, I do my best to encourage an open and welcoming environment, but most don't advertise that they are mutants unless they do not have a choice. Does that make sense?"
Anna mentioned how she couldn't wait to meet the other new recruits and, as if on cue, Mason appeared just as Sierra and Anna were about to continue the tour. Sierra took a step to the side to let Mason reach over for a handshake.
"This is Annabelle Lennox," Sierra said to Mason. "I already said something nice about each of you to her, and I'm sure you will not prove me wrong."

How long would the excitement last? That was a good question. " Possibly not long since I'm already use to living around mutants, so it may become pretty normal for me in no time." Anna admitted but couldn't help grinning, " Though, I make no promises about being any less hyper, I'm a pretty excitable person." Not that Anna expected it to be an issue down the line given what Sierra had told her about the rest of the recruits. From what the older woman had explained most of the recruits except for one were pretty out-going, social people which could make settling in that much easier. Though Sierra explained further there would be other mutants not living at the mansion which was to be expected, but it did make her wonder. Were they just as welcoming or more hostile than her housemates? Admittedly, hiding her mutant abilities would be difficult personally, having become so use to openly talking about and displaying such abilities even though her own had only activated recently. " I understand. Guess it would make sense if not everyone wants to be known as a mutant, so maybe as best practice I'll do the same for now." She affirmed with a nod, but made didn't know when the time came if she would be able to keep her abilities in check right away. Guess it would be a matter of time before she would know. Though as if on cue after Sierra explaining about each recruit one of them happen to appear, catching Anna a little by surprise when Mason peered into the room. " Pleasure to meet you Mason, glad to put one face to a name." Anna greeted with a grin of her own, returning the handshake. " As Sierra said, my name is Annabelle, but you can call me Anna for short." She introduced herself properly, " I just got here, but from what Sierra told me I'm already looking forward to calling this place a second home." Tags: Gigabyte, Incognito, open!

Mason glanced over at Sierra as the teacher introduced the new student to him, his eyebrows raising as Sierra said that she had said something nice about the rest of them. Telling Mason that she was sure that they wouldn't prove her wrong, Mason wondered if that was a thinly-veiled threat.
"I hope we won't," he said to Sierra with a light chuckle.
He turned his attention back to Annabelle as she returned his handshake. "Anna, then. Great to have a new face around here, and I'm sure Willow will be glad she's not outnumbered anymore.
"Did you come here from far away?" Mason asked. "Or maybe you hadn't needed to move too great of a distance to join us here?"
He glanced back and forth between Sierra and Anna, acutely aware that he interrupted. "Oh, I'm sorry for barging in. I just wanted to introduce myself before dashing off to the showers. Sorry if I smell after track, too," he added with a crooked grin.

Tag: Flashpoint, Incognito, open! Words: 184 Sierra nodded when Anna mentioned that she was used to living with mutants, so Sierra was certain Anna would feel comfortable in no time. She laughed lightly when Anna stated she could be an excitable person. With a dry tone and a smile, Sierra said, "You'll fit right in."
She was pleased that Anna took her small warning that most mutants at Bayville High, including those who were homed in the manor, tended to keep quiet about their genetic heritage. Anna could make her own decision regarding whether she wanted others to know her mutant status, but it wouldn't be fair or right to out anyone else that wasn't ready.
Mason and Anna cordially introduced themselves to each other, and Sierra waved off Mason's apology for interrupting them. Sierra was proud that the students in the manor could all be friendly and open to all, and she was more than content to wait for these two made small talk.
"You're more than welcome to join us on the remainder of the tour," Sierra said to Mason, "if you wanted to wait on your shower."

" Careful Mason, the girls might catch up faster than you know." Anna teased with a broad grin, but it did make her excited to meet her roommate even more. It sounded like Willow would be an excellent roommate, and from her decorum, they likely shared some things in common. And she was sure in time, she could find common ground with the rest of the recruits aside from their obvious mutant genetics. When he inquired about where she had come from, she merely smiled, " Both actually." She answered him, " I have family from Bayville on my father's side, so I'm pretty familiar with the town already. Well, aside from this part of town anyway, we never really had reasons to venture this far." She explained more so emphasizing the rather extravagant, pricy looking homes near the manor. " But, me and my parents were living in Florida until my powers revealed themselves. My dad had this place on his radar, so here I am." Now Anna's own curiosity was piqued, " What about you though Mason? You local?" Though when Mason mentioned about needing a shower thanks to track and interrupting, Anna merely shook her head with her own crooked smile, " Promise, didn't even notice it Mason." But nodded in agreement with Sierra, " No interruption at all. We made a quick pitstop so I could drop off my bags, so we've barely started." Though Anna could understand if Mason would prefer to get washed up first, knowing firsthand how the aftermath of sports can be a pain. " But if you prefer to wash up first, definitely can join us after! I have a feeling I might have a lot of questions." Maybe a lot, it was hard to say right away. Anna however noted to herself to keep her enthusiasm somewhat in check, not wanting to bombard poor Sierra with every question that popped into her mind. Tags: Gigabyte, Incognito, open!

"The more the merrier!" Mason said when Anna teased that the girls may catch up faster to the boys. He wouldn't mind some more ladies roaming the halls.
He blinked and gave Anna a crooked smile when she mentioned where she had been from. "That's a coincidence," he said. "Before moving here to Bayville, Mom and I lived in Florida. We were in Tampa. Were you around there, too?
"I was technically born in Chicago, but we moved to L.A. when I was a little toddler," he continued. "Tampa was next when I was about eight after my parents divorced. Then my mutant abilities showed themselves, so Mom and I moved up here. Mom's an English teacher at the high school, too, so you'll probably meet her soon enough."
Both Sierra and Anna didn't seem to mind if Mason joined them on their tour, and he took a brief moment to decide. "Yeah, why not?" Mason said. "I'm game to join you on the tour, as long as neither of you think I smell too bad." He backtracked to his own room and tossed his towel and clean clothes onto his bed before returning to Sierra's and Anna's side with a grin. "What's the next stop?"
