Date: Wed. Nov. 8, 2023 Tag: @flashpoint Words: 176 Notes: Possibly open to the other teachers -- as this is the middle of the day, the students should be at school, lol -- a bit later, if TC wants to. Sierra had remembered the name Keith Lennox. It had been buried in her memory, but it was there nonetheless. She had never seen the man, but it was a name that was once spoken about years ago as another potential new recruit when the current generation of adults had been teenagers themselves.
Of course, when Keith contacted them about his own daughter, they weren't going to turn the family away.
Sierra had taken the day from Bayville High in order to greet Annabelle when she arrived at the Xavier Institute. She was guessing -- and hopeful -- that she would be able to help Annabelle not only ease into the manor itself but to also help her get settled at Bayville High. It was stressful enough to start at a new school, but a new public school a few months already into the academic year could be worse.
As such, Sierra was waiting in the foyer of the manor for the newcomer to arrive, busying herself with budget reports for the high school and Danger Room statistics alike.

The Xavier Institute... Anna had heard the name of the place from her father when she had first asked about his mutation. Mutations were normal in her family on his side, just another topic no different from say sports or shows or work. In fact, it was often encouraged among them to be open about their mutations, not wanting it to be a true shock when their abilities set in or the off chance they didn't get abilities at all. Her mother was another story obviously, but she had taken in stride otherwise she wouldn't be there to begin with. Plus with their traveling schedules, her father couldn't dedicate the proper time to train her himself. Though a little nervous about meeting other mutants outside her own immediate and extended family, Anna had taken the suggestion in stride herself, hoping the experience might help her grow by other means. It had only been a couple weeks since her powers made themselves known, but she was nevertheless eager to see how she might grow in her own right, having used those two weeks to prep herself, pack, and say her good byes. And if she did need anything her grandparents still resided in Bayville so it wasn't like she would be completely out of contact. Plus she was somewhat familiar with the area when they visited her paternal grandparents often, so at least it wouldn't be a totally strange place. Except this side of town was. The area near the Institute was...fancy, a place her family never had reason to visit until now. Her grandmother had been kind enough to offer to take her herself, pulling up to the round about in front of the mansion. " Are you sure you want to go in alone?" Her grandmother was naturally concerned, worried her granddaughter might feel overwhelmed. But the brunette merely shook her head, offering her grandmother a reassuring smile, " I promise grandma, I'll be fine! Besides, I can always let you know how it goes later!" Anna assured her, grabbing her bags and saying a final good bye before watching the car roll away. From there, it was all up to her. Letting out a small exhale, Anna turned to look up at the manor for a moment before making her way up the stairs, shifting one of the dufflebags further under her arm and knocking hard and loud to get someone's attention. Tag: @flashpoint, open! Words: 196 Notes: That makes more sense, lol. Amending the time so it's a little later in the afternoon to allow new recruits to "crash" through the tour when returning home from school. The knocking was loud and clear, not demanding nor rushed. The security network had already informed Sierra of a car rolling to the front, as she had asked it to, so she was prepared. It took only a few seconds for Sierra to shuffle her paperwork back together in some semblance of a pile before opening the front door.
Sierra smiled at the young woman before her. "Ms. Lennox, I presume?" she asked, stepping aside to let the teenager in. "I'm Sierra Parker, one of the instructors here and the principal of Bayville High School. It's a pleasure to meet you. May I help you with your bags?"
Sierra glanced outside, seeing the car leave, and figured the family had decided this was a pivotal moment for Annabelle to get through herself. As such, Sierra allowed the teen a moment to look around the foyer and possibly get used to living in a manor such as this.
"Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns at any time," Sierra said. "Otherwise, I figured we could start with a small tour and I can give you a bit of background on the Xavier Institute."

It didn't take long for someone to answer the door. Actually, Sierra answering the door probably could have been record timing in her opinion. " Yes ma'am! It's a pleasure to meet you Ms.Parker!" Anna both confirmed and greeted the older woman with a great deal of enthusiasm. Admittedly, a part of her was nervous to what the future would hold living at the mansion, but that didn't stop her excitement from taking over. " Oh and yes please, I might have overpacked..." Anna looked a little embarrassed, having packed two dufflebags and a suitcase. Mostly, she hadn't known what to expect and had taken her mother's words of being over prepared perhaps a little too close to heart. But with Sierra's help it would make things much easier as she stepped into the mansion foyer, eyes widening to the size of dinner plates as she took in her new living space. Holy crap was the place huge and fancy, and she was pretty sure her family's house back in Florida could fit into the front entry way of the mansion without a problem. " Wow this is...huge." She remarked with a soft whistle, but still nonetheless listening as Sierra spoke further. She really had to focus. Pushing aside her amazement, Anna focused back on Sierra, listening as the woman explained who she was and offering a tour of the place. She was definitely going to need it, and maybe a few days to get use to the layout. " The principal and an instructor...sounds tiring." The teen commented before smiling, " But a tour would be great, I can already tell I might get lost for a bit." Anna shifted her dufflebags to her opposite arm, " And I know a little about the Institute, would be interesting to know more since my father thought highly of this place even though he didn't come here himself." Tag: @flashpoint, open Words: 200 Sierra smiled at the enthusiastic greeting, already having a good feeling that Ms. Lennox would fit in well with the other students that were currently residing in the manor. She took the teen's suitcase, was amused at her impressed whistle at the size of the foyer, and said, "It is a little overwhelming at first. I'm sure you'll get used to the layout soon enough. I feel as if the manor looks bigger than it really is.
"What is your preference for what we call you?" Sierra asked. "Do you prefer Annabelle? Anna? Just Ann?"
Ms. Lennox commented that it must be tiring being both an instructor and a principal, and Sierra's smile softened. "It is a challenge," she admitted, "but one I'm glad to take on. My own abilities help. I'm mainly a technopath, able to communicate with electronics. A pleasant side effect is that my mind is very much organized like a computer. Xavier Institute helped me greatly as I grew with my abilities."
Sierra nodded towards the main staircase, saying, "Why don't we start the tour upstairs in the dormitories? I'll show you to your room so we can drop off your belongings and go from there."

Sierra had a point. The manor from the outside did look rather overwhelming, and the inside didn't exactly change that thought. Perhaps Anna was so use to smaller houses, even a two story house like her and her parents lived in, it just felt overwhelmingly large by perspective. Given time, she likely would know the mansion like the back of her hand as she did with places she had come to visit so often. " It's definitely going to take getting use to." Anna agreed hoping the tour might help map something in her mind after she got settled in. " The dorms sound like a great place to start." For a moment, Anna wondered if she would have a roommate in the dorms. Given the boarding school-like feel of the mansion, she wouldn't doubt that she might have to share a room with another student making her all the more curious of those she would meet there. " Oh, and Anna is just fine! I don't mind Annabelle, but Anna is usually what everyone calls me." She answered in regarding to Sierra's inquiry about her name as they started heading up the stairway. As they walked, Sierra went into detail regarding her own mutant abilities, emphasizing how it helped not only connect and communicate with electronics but made her organization much more efficient. " Damn, that sounds cool!" Anna paused realizing what she had said, " Er, sorry, I mean that sounds cool and efficient, bet it makes this day and age a cakewalk for you." She corrected herself in embarrassment knowing talking like she did with an adult probably wasn't exactly the best. That was definitely her excitement getting the best of her. Tags: Gigabyte, open!

Tag: @flashpoint, open Words: 274 "You'll have plenty of people around to help you as you get used to the manor," Sierra assured Anna. Sierra shared a smile with Anna when the teenager expressed what she thought of Sierra's abilities. Dryly, she said, "Don't worry. Being a principal of a high school, I've heard far worse. I thank you for the enthusiasm."
Sierra brought Anna down the hallway, pointing out a few of the dorms and the restrooms as she did so. "On the left, room 200 belongs to Roy Kingsley and Eddie Ross. Roy has been at the institute the longest and is wonderful at guiding everyone else. Eddie, I'm sure, will introduce himself as soon as he can to you, as he's very social. Next door, room 202 has Mason Perez and Noah Beckett. Mason is always willing to help as well, and I'm certain Noah would if he can, but he's probably the shyest of the group.
"Here on the right in room 201," Sierra continued, opening the door to reveal it, "is where you will be with Willow Foster. Willow is very friendly and, honestly, I'm not sure who is more social, Eddie or her. I'm certain you two will be able to get along just fine, but please let me or any of the other instructors know otherwise if there are any issues."
The room itself had two twin beds, a couple of dresser drawers, and a decently-sized closet. One side of the room was clearly lived in with plenty of knick-knacks and personal touches, most in an animal or food motif. The other side of the room was clean and ready for Anna.
