Friday, August 18, 2023 | 184 words | OPEN! Andrew was sure there was something in the soda that he was sipping on. He hadn't opened the can himself. He had swiped it from one of the card tables that were set up haphazardly on the beach, probably from one of the senior football players that were milling about the bonfire that was blazing brightly in the summer twilight.
The drink didn't taste terrible, at least, and it was mostly the soda that Andrew detected, so he wasn't too concerned. Honestly, he'd be more concerned if whoever he stole the drink from realized the drink was missing and came after him. Andrew's frame was much more delicate than a football player's.
As such, Andrew himself was lounging on one of the many sand dunes that were semi-hiding the bonfire from the main section of the beach. The area was a little secluded, a spot where the incoming tide wasn't dangerous enough for teenagers to worry, but it wasn't so cut off that it was difficult to get to.
It was the perfect place for Bayville's teens to enjoy each other's company during the summer evenings.

♡ Andrew Harvey OPEN! 153 words I may also toss in Mist and Golem down the line. Summer was what Clarissa lived for. She wished she could convince her parents to move them somewhere that was tropical all year long. With glorious summer days like this, Clarissa really envied Bianca for going to a university in Miami. (Angela was only in Boston, which baffled the hell out of Clarissa. Why wouldn't you move farther from boring ol' Bayville?) Clarissa flipped over, laying on her stomach on her beach blanket to get a new angle. She was a bit disappointed that the sun had already disappeared, but she was certain her tan was still even from spending the day at the beach. She people-watched from behind her mirrored sunglasses, enjoying the semi-impromptu bonfire as much as any of the other teens, and wondered who was best appreciating her new red, white, and blue monokini. It would certainly be nice if there was a good-looking guy around to pass her a drink...

Andrew spotted a pretty redhead in a monokini that was working for her figure. He looked around, ensuring that the senior that he stole his soda from in particular wasn't paying attention before deciding to make his way to the redhead. He got up from his spot and sauntered over, taking another drink off of another card table -- a closed can of soda, this time -- to act as an icebreaker.
When he got closer, he grinned, realizing that he didn't need an icebreaker. "Very patriotic swimsuit, Clarissa," Andrew said, handing her the soda before plopping down next to her blanket. "What's the matter, haven't caught any of the seniors' eyes yet?"
There were a couple of new kids that Andrew knew of that he wouldn't mind seeing around the beach. Would they have even found out about the beach bonfire? Vaguely, he wondered how many new kids would grace Bayville High's walls, not only the incoming freshmen but any other students that made their way to Bayville during the summer.

♡ Andrew Harvey OPEN 162 words Feel free to reference my other teens in posts. I'll probably bring some of them in. Clarissa heard someone coming over and she looked up with a bright grin. The grin itself dissolved into a crooked smile. She wasn't disappointed that it was Andrew, but she was a little disappointed that it was only Andrew. Nevertheless, she took the soda with a small thanks and popped it open. "I thought so," she said, taking the compliment on her monokini. "I almost returned it. The shade of blue wasn't my favorite, but it's grown on me."Clarissa huffed when Andrew mentioned how she hadn't caught any of the seniors' eyes yet, but she merely said, "Give it time. What about you? You're over here talking to me instead of trying to get with anyone else? What's the matter, gone through all the girls in our grade already?"She took a sip of the soda, looking around the beach before saying, "Or are you waiting for some new blood to show up? Haven't seen the new kids yet, have you?"

168 words | Clarissa Jenkins, open! | Referencing Olivia and/or Golem, lol, but leaving it open for you Andrew laughed when Clarissa's grin went down to a smile at the sight of him. He wasn't offended in the slightest, knowing that she fully expected (and wanted) him to be some good-looking senior. Regardless, she thanked him for the soda and didn't mind when he started to share her blanket with her.
She commented on the colors of her bathing suit, something that he had no response to, then turned his own question to her back on him. He shrugged, looking around at everyone on the beach, and said, "New blood would certainly be nice. I've had some fun with a few of the girls in our grade, but a new year always makes me want to start a new challenge."
Andrew took another sip of his soda (and, okay, he was definitely starting to taste some sort of alcohol) before potentially spotting one of the new kids. Pointing them out to Clarissa, he said, "I may be hallucinating, but that could be the new kids right down there."

He was only at the bonfire because he had followed Olivia here. Adam himself wasn't comfortable on the beach by a large bonfire with people he didn't know, but at least the area was open enough so it didn't quite feel as crowded. He recognized a few of the other students from the sports teams tryouts earlier in the day, but he merely nodded in greeting to them if need be and trailed after Olivia.
"You can go off and make friends of your own," Olivia whispered to him.
"You said you didn't want to be alone," Adam said in reply.
She gave a small huff. "I didn't want to come here by myself," she said, apparently thinking that would clarify things, "but we don't have to stick to each other's sides like glue. It's good to know another here, but we can branch out. This is one of our first forays into the student body."
Adam frowned slightly, not wanting to separate from his housemate and wishing not for the first time that he was still at the boarding house for the evening. Olivia took his silence as agreement and moved away, placing a smile on her face as she greeted and met others, accepting drinks and knowing so much more about socializing than Adam thought he ever would.
He glanced around the beach, wondering if he could just escape, take a walk on his own and return in a bit to go back to the Brotherhood Boarding House with Olivia, but he did spot someone that he could feel comfortable talking to. Adam trudged through the sand toward Andrew, slowing only when he realized that Andrew was talking to a girl. He didn't want to interrupt, but the redhead spotted Adam and appeared to be waving him over.
"Hello," Adam said when he got close enough to the pair.
"Hello there," the redhead said, tilting her sunglasses down enough to properly look at him. "I'm Clarissa Jenkins. I don't believe I know you."
"Adam Clayton," he said, his gaze shifting to Andrew in the hopes of gaining some social cues. "I'm new to Bayville but, uh, I've met Andrew before."

Andrew was thankfully not hallucinating. Adam did make his way over to both Clarissa and him (which Adam probably only did so because Clarissa beckoned him over) and Andrew was slightly disappointed that Olivia was doing her own thing elsewhere. Maybe she would come and join Adam and them soon enough.
At the moment, though, Andrew gave Adam a nod and a small salute with his own drink. "What's up, Adam?" Andrew asked. With a teasing note in his voice, he added, "Nice sneakers."
Clarissa wasn't shy in giving her name to Adam, and Andrew said, "Clarissa is going to be a junior at Bayville High like me this year. She's also the resident gossip queen, so if you need to know anything about the goings-on at Bayville High, Clarissa is who you want to ask."
To Clarissa, Andrew said, "Think Adam was planning on trying out for the football team. Maybe you could have Isaac put in a good word for him to the coach.
"I know you said Olivia and yourself were going to be new to the scene, but I don't remember what grade you're going into," Andrew added, turning his attention back to Adam.

♡ Clarissa beamed at Adam, finding him cute and shy, and she at least understood the reference when Andrew piped up that he liked Adam's sneakers. Adam gave Andrew a crooked smile and a polite thank you, but otherwise didn't seem to know what to do or say. Thankfully, Andrew took the reins of the conversation, and Clarissa merely raised an eyebrow when he called her the gossip queen. "Of course," she said to Adam, "that also means if you just need general advice or directions and you see me in the school hallways, feel free to ask me anything."
"Thank you," Adam said. "That is good to know."
"Why don't you sit down?" Clarissa said, scooting over a little on her blanket. "Unless you're not planning on sticking around long enough with us?"Andrew mentioned that Adam was going to try out for the football team and, while Clarissa thought he was a little on the skinny side, she supposed he may not be too bad. Maybe he was built more for speed. "Oh, I can definitely get Isaac to put in a good word," Clarissa said. Turning back to Adam, she continued, "Isaac is my casual boyfriend. Very casual. He's one of the main guys on Bayville's football team, so he can talk you up to the coach."
"That's, uh..." Adam looked lost, even if he did slowly take the offered blanket seat. "That's very nice, but I wouldn't want special treatment..."Clarissa waved that off. "Oh, don't worry. The coach will still test you but at least he'll already know your name."Adam nodded, but listened when Andrew asked him what grade he was going in and answered, "Also a junior."

191 words | Golem/Mist, still open for crashers Andrew took a gulp of his drink when Clarissa mentioned that she was available to Adam just for general advice if need be too in response to Andrew calling her the gossip queen. He needed to hide his laughter.
He saw the way Clarissa eyed Adam. The poor sap probably had no idea what was coming.
And maybe that was a good thing, considering Adam seemed to glance at Andrew for cues on what to do. If Adam was that inept socially, Clarissa may get frustrated enough to pursue someone else.
Adam seemed flustered at the idea of Isaac putting in a good word for him for the football team and Andrew turned a snort into a cough as Clarissa reiterated that Isaac was her casual boyfriend. Andrew raised an eyebrow to Clarissa ("Laying it on a bit thick, eh?") and schooled his features when Adam mentioned that he would also be a junior.
"We may have some classes together then," Andrew said. "I know Clarissa and I have English Literature III first period and then lunch the fifth period block. We take different electives, though. What kind of classes are you taking?"

Adam tried to relax in his seat and honestly figured that this was the longest conversation he's had with people who did not live with him. He was on the very edge of the blanket and he could just feel the sand start to get into his shorts and sneakers.
Clarissa seemed nice, but she also was a little too friendly, almost as if she was saying things in a deliberate attempt to make Adam feel at ease. Which Adam guessed was fine, but Andrew seemed a little more genuine.
Adam tried to remember the class schedule that Todd had given him, and he said, "Uh, pretty sure I have English Literature III second period and lunch during the fourth block. My electives are weight training and auto shop." He glanced at both of the others, trying to gauge if either had such classes. "Otherwise, um, statistics is my math class... forensics for my science and I think world history for, well, history class..."

Andrew shook his head when Adam started talking about the electives he was taking. They were rather typical electives for guys their age, but Andrew was not part of either.
"Nah," Andrew said. "I take Japanese and computer graphics. Got world history, though, sixth period. Maybe we'll be in the same class for that. It actually doesn't sound like you'll see Clarissa at all during the school day." He cast a shit-eating grin in her direction, silently teasing her for not being able to flirt with the newest piece of eye candy throughout the day.
Granted, he did kind of make a deal with Clarissa to see if the pair of them could work together to score information (and phone numbers) for Olivia and Adam. Andrew would have to remember that.
"But, hey," he said, "if you need help catching up with the workload or something, I don't mind helping and I'm sure Clarissa won't, either. You'll probably be fine judging by your class schedule, but it can be a lot coming into a new school district and trying to figure out how everything works."

♡ Clarissa did her best not to frown and glare at Andrew for his grin when it was apparent that she would not really see Adam at all during the school day. She wanted to punch Andrew's shoulder, but she also didn't want to give Adam the impression that she had a temper. "Maybe not during the day," Clarissa conceded, bringing her smile back to Adam, "but if you're part of the football team, then I will be there with the cheer squad to support you at every game."Adam took a second to comprehend her words before giving her a nod and a quiet, "Thank you," which was not the enthusiastic response that Clarissa was looking for. And then Andrew opened his mouth again, stating that he would help Adam catch up with Bayville High's work load (which was fine) and volunteering Clarissa's help (which was not as fine). Clarissa had to consciously stop herself from grimacing at the idea of being some sort of tutor, but she supposed she could suck it up if Adam was the one she was helping study. Especially when Adam turned his baby blues to Clarissa, nodding another thanks to both Andrew and her for the offer. "Here." Clarissa took the plunge and dug out a pen from her bag. She grasped Adam's hand and scribbled her phone number on his palm, ignoring the bewildered look he was giving her for doing so. Beaming up at him, Clarissa said, "Here's my cell phone number. Call on me at anytime."
"At least one of us scored."Clarissa eyed the brunette that appeared near them, only knowing who she was because of the guys sitting next to her. She gave her a smile and said, "You must be Olivia. I'm Clarissa.""Pleasure," Olivia said, shaking Clarissa's hand. "Hey, please try out for the cheer squad," Clarissa said. Andrew had been right -- Olivia definitely looked in-shape enough for the part. Olivia huffed out a laugh and thankfully agreed, solidifying Clarissa's part in her agreement with Andrew. Unless Olivia was absolutely atrocious when it came to the routines, Clarissa would get Olivia a spot on the squad. "Ready to go?" Adam asked Olivia, evidently eager to leave. Clarissa pretended she wasn't insulted. Olivia told Adam, "Whenever you are," which made Adam get up immediately. To both Andrew and Clarissa, Olivia said, "Nice seeing you," and Adam echoed the same before the pair made their way off the beach. Clarissa watched them go, noticing that the bonfire was starting to die out. "Well, that seemed successful," she said to Andrew, and she began packing up herself. "Walk me to my car?"
