Date: Monday, July 3, 2023 Tag: @jubilee, open after if TC doesn't mind. Words: 208 Notes: Figured this date would be appropriate for Jubiliee! In the state of New York, any sort of fireworks were illegal without a permit, but that did not stop some of the more patriotic citizens of the state from prepping for the 4th of July. Sierra could remember from her teenage years how the skies lit up around the time of the holiday, some that were actually planned by the city as a commemoration, but plenty from people who decided to sneak their own celebration.
Willow had been telling stories earlier to anyone who would listen about the grand fireworks displays her extended family used to do on summer vacations. While the stories themselves sounded fantastic, and the described firework shows even more so, Sierra hoped that none of the new recruits would get any bright ideas. It may be prudent to either make sure everyone stayed home during the holiday just in case.
If someone else in Bayville decided to put on a show, she vaguely wondered if they would be able to hear the fireworks from the manor...
Sierra shook her head, trying to get her mind to focus on the solitary task of continuing to go through the applications she had received for new Bayville High School staff members and move on from fireworks.

It felt strange driving down these familiar streets, passing gated communities, familiar shops, memories flowing back from those fifteen years ago. The reality of how long she had been gone quickly began to set in as Jubilee drove around Bayville, making her way towards the familiar mansion. To say the least, nothing much had changed with Bayville. It seemed bigger to some degree, but nothing that made it too unfamiliar anymore. For the most part it was the same town she had left as a teenager, she just wondered if the people had changed or will stay the same. Pushing such thoughts aside however, Jubilee tried to focus on her driving, feeling the wind whip through her hair from the top-down Jeep she presently drove, her world tinted pink behind her characteristic pink visor. It wasn't long before the mansion came into view, Jubilee finding herself being brought back to the day she had been picked up by her Aunt Hope, tearfully getting in the car after bidding farewell to the friends she had made at the institute and her mentors. Remembering sitting in the back of the vehicle, looking through the back window as the mansion became smaller and smaller, tears blurring her vision. But at the time, there was little she could say or little protest she could give that would have changed her aunt's mind, the woman being firm that Jubilee would not be safe at the institute any longer. Fifteen year later, it was the opposite. The mansion got bigger and bigger, causing her to become filled with joy and giddiness, raising her visor sunglasses to better look at the place that became like a second home. An excited, broad grin quickly spread across her face, pushing her foot on the peddle to go faster until she reached the gates. Only then did she slow down, impatiently waiting as the gates opened before driving up the impressive driveway, her excitement growing until she came to a total stop at the steps to the front doors. Seemingly to reflect her heightened emotions, her fingers had began to spark and become alight with bright white and rainbow effects, something Jubilee herself didn't take notice of until spotting the colorful flashes from the corners of her eyes. Ordinarily, Jubilee would have just reabsorbed the energy right back without much concern, but given the occasion it only gave her an idea that caused her grin to almost spread from ear to ear. What better way to make an entrance than some fireworks? Besides, it was almost July 4th, so why not? Nothing made a bigger statement than a fireworks display! " Home at last!" Jubilee spoke to herself as she stood up in the Jeep, spreading her arms above her as she released several multicolored light gobules from her fingers, launching them every which way and creating a harmless yet audible display in front of the mansion, bringing the front of the building alight in an array of colors that flickered through the windows. Yea, there was no missing that. Satisfied with her noisy entrance, Jubilee finally exited the beat up looking vehicle before shutting the door behind her, half skipping, half running up the front steps, barely containing her excitement, just enough to slow herself down and take a deep breath. ' Calm yourself Jubes, don't need to give anyone a heart attack.' She told herself, as if she probably hadn't done just that already with her impromptu display. After a few intakes of breathe, the woman pushed open the doors, stepping into the grand entrance that composed the front of the mansion. It hadn't changed a bit..." Hellooooo? Anybody home?" Jubilee raised her voice, smiling faintly at the familiar echo of the halls. Tags: Gigabyte, and anyone else who may want to join! Notes: Couldn't have picked a more fitting time!

Tag: @jubilee Words: 208 The security system niggled at Sierra's mind, letting her know someone had returned home, someone that was familiar enough not to raise any alarms. Sierra slowed her walk in the hallway down as she glanced out the nearest window, fairly certain that everyone was actually home--
Crackles and pops and booms made Sierra jump, the startling array of colors and lights from outside making sparks leap out of her hair and fingertips. Sierra got ahold of herself just in time to hear a voice shout from the front doors.
She blinked, her mind reaching far back into her memories as it analyzed the voice.
"Jubilee...?" Sierra quickened her stride, bringing her to the top of the staircase in the foyer where she caught sight of the other young woman. A slow smile curved on Sierra's face while she got closer. "Jubilee, is that you? Welcome back!"
True, Sierra and Jubilee were more so classmates and acquaintances rather than friends back when they were teenagers -- it was Sierra's doing, she would fully admit that -- but as far as Sierra was concerned, there was never any bad blood between the two.
"You are back, yes?" Sierra asked, her smile turning crooked and her tone pleased at seeing a familiar face.

just own the night like the fourth of july firework -- katy perry words: 191 notes: *throws Eddie in more threads* Eddie nearly fell off of his bed when the sounds and colors of fireworks abruptly went off outside. He dashed to his window to see the last remnants of the colors and lights die out before heading out of his room and down the hallway to the foyer.
"Do we have fireworks?" he asked aloud to anyone who was nearby to hear. His tone was bright, excited, as he thought of the possibilities of fireworks. It was perfect for this time of the year, something that he thought he would miss from Cloudcroft. While most fireworks were legal in New Mexico, Eddie was sure that they were illegal in New York.
He skidded to a stop at the top of the staircase, momentarily confused at seeing an unfamiliar woman in the foyer. Sierra was with her, though, and didn't seem alarmed in the slightest, so Eddie guessed that the new lady was okay.
"Hi!" Eddie waved, hopping down the stairs to catch up to the women. He glanced at Sierra for any social cues, but otherwise didn't seem to mind that there was a random woman at the institute. "Awesome sunglasses!"

Hearing a familiar voice to answer her first caused Jubilee to light up, turning to the source to find Sierra at the top of the stairway. Though the two had not been particularly close as teenagers, Jubilee had never had any problems with the woman either. Where Jubilee had always been boisterous, social, and out-going, Sierra had always seemed much more quiet and reserved, but never seemed to have a bad bone in her body. Besides, knowing there were familiar faces here made the effort all the more worth making the long trip. " Sierra! Its good to see you!" Jubilee made no hesitation to meet Sierra when she came down the steps, embracing her in her usual jovial ways before stepping back. " And of course I'm back! You really think I'd miss coming back to the mansion? I'm a little late I admit, but I wouldn't miss the reopening of this place for the world." No truer words could have left her mouth in that moment. She had missed the mansion, her friends, the family she had here when she had initially thought there was no one else. Admittedly though, she had not gotten word about the mansion until sometime after it had opened its doors again, but to be there at all was better than not at all. " Is there-" Jubilee began to inquire if there were any other familiar faces at the mansion, but stopped mid-sentence when she heard someone else ask about some fireworks. Joining them was a younger mutant that she deduced was a new recruit to the mansion as they had once been. Knowing that there were a new generation of mutants coming to the mansion and learning how to use their powers made her thrilled that despite the loss of their mentor, the spirit of the X-Men still thrived. " Well, hello to you too! And thanks, its kinda my signature." Jubilee greeted Eddie, " And those fireworks are courtesy of my powers." She grinned once more, " I can show you anytime! That said, the names Jubilation Lee, but everyone calls me Jubilee, pleasure to meet you!" She introduced herself with great enthusiasm. With all the excitement she was feeling, it was a wonder that Jubilee didn't just combust into one big firework herself at this rate. Tags: Gigabyte, Foxtrot

Tag: @jubilee Foxtrot open! Words: 210 Sierra couldn't help but smile as Jubilee greeted her in return with all of her usual energy. It was pleasing that Jubilee hadn't seemed to change despite the years that had flown by.
"Not late at all," Sierra said. "The doors would have always been opened for you no matter what."
In a similar manner, Eddie appeared, evidently summoned by the colors and sounds of Jubilee's fireworks. While he looked to Sierra, no doubt curious as to who Jubilee was and why she was currently standing in the foyer, Eddie's enthusiastic personality had no problem matching Jubilee's.
Jubilee introduced herself to Eddie and Sierra took the reins of the conversation. "This is Eddie Ross. He's currently one of three of our new recruits. He actually just arrived here a little over two weeks ago." As a further explanation to Eddie, Sierra said, "Jubilee here was a new recruit around the same time Bobby and I were, about a year or so behind Kurt."
With a gesture to Jubilee's bags, Sierra said, "May I help you with those? We'll find you a room to call your own. Bobby just returned a few days ago, actually, and he had claimed Logan's old room."
It would be interesting if Logan himself ever returned...

baby you're a firework come on let your colors burst firework -- katy perry words: 152 notes: nada "Jubilee," Eddie repeated, being sure to remember the name, with a grin. "Good to meet you!"
Even her name was fun. Like, Eddie was pretty sure that's what her name meant, or close to it, anyway.
Sierra introduced him to Jubilee, mentioning that he was a current new recruit while she had been a new recruit around the same time as Bobby and Sierra herself. "That's great!" Eddie said. To Jubilee, he said, "Sierra won't tell us any good fun stories about her time as a new recruit, and I haven't quite had the chance to bother Bobby about it yet. Maybe you'll share all the sordid tales of your class of new recruits?"
The matter of Jubilee's bags came up, and Eddie offered his help too. "Who was Logan?" he asked the two ladies as he followed them towards the wing of the adults' bedrooms, bringing up one of the suitcases.

" I wish I had never left in the first place." Jubilee sighed, her joy momentarily gone at the thought once more. She knew legally, Xavier couldn't keep her as a ward when it was discovered she did indeed have close family. Her Aunt was an odd woman, but she had been good to her all those years ago aside from that one contention between them, but now it was gone. She was an adult, and she was here now. This time, there was no one who could tell her otherwise. Though her joy quickly returned, turning her attention on the young man that joined them soon enough and allowing Jubilee to introduce herself. From there Sierra handled the rest of the introductions, " Pleasure to meet you Eddie, I'm sure we'll get along great! I hope you're liking your time here too!" The woman began to wonder then what the other recruits were like. Would they be more responsible such as when the older X-men were when they were younger? Or rambunctious as most of the New Mutants had been? To also potentially be part of the guiding hand for their growth also something to look forward to. But, she could worry about such thoughts later, she really should get settled in first as Sierra pointed. " Yea, I could use a hand or two." She had gotten so caught up in being back she had almost forgotten her suitcases. Luckily, there wasn't many, nodding to Sierra's and Eddie's offer for help as she grabbed a bag or two as well, following them towards the corridor that housed the adult side. But she grinned as Eddie inquired if she could share tales of their youth where Sierra and Kurt probably were reluctant, " Oh you bet!! I will even tell you about the time me, Bobby, and some of the other recruits took the Blackbird out for a joyride." She assured him, a look of mischief flashing in her eyes. Now that had to be her most fond, favorite memory of her time there even though it had almost gone awry. But, least it could be a fun yet educational moment right? Though she turned her attention back to the older woman when she mentioned Bobby had taken Logan's old room. So, Wolverine hadn't returned either. Probably off on his own once again somewhere as he so often did, " Suppose I shouldn't be surprised Logan's not back." " Logan was one of the instructors here when we were younger, a feral mutant. Gruff and tough love sort of guy, a loner most times even, but he he was a good guy." Jubilee explained towards Eddie, recalling how tough Logan could be on all of them, " He always was looking out for us students, and from my understanding came from a rough past of his own." Tag: @jubilee Foxtrot Words: 286 Jubilee sounded wistful when she mentioned she wished that she had never left at all. "While I hope life has treated you well since you've left," Sierra said, "I'm certainly glad life brought you back here."
She was pleased Eddie was polite enough to help carry Jubilee's bags, but Sierra did cast a slight frown in the teenager's direction when he mentioned that Sierra wouldn't share any fun stories. "I kept more to myself for the most part when I was a new recruit," she murmured.
Her frown was joined by a raised eyebrow, despite the amused gleam in her eyes, when Jubilee gleefully agreed to tell Eddie all the fun stories he wanted. Immediately, Jubilee gave Eddie a preview by describing the joyride she and a few of the other new recruits had taken in the Blackbird once upon a time. Sierra herself had opted to stay behind, unsure how her nerves and electricity would have mixed in the confines of the jet.
Sierra was just pleased that Jubilee was already bonding with at least one of their new recruits.
"I'm not surprised either," Sierra said quietly when Jubilee mentioned Logan not being back. "Bobby claimed to have chosen that room to see if Logan left anything behind, but I'm curious if it is also wishful thinking that Logan would show back up and kick him out of the room."
The current trio reached the wing for the X-Men rooms and Sierra mentioned where Kurt's and her own rooms were as well as a reminder as to where Bobby was. "The other rooms are available. Well, except for the professor's. I believe Kurt would like to keep that available for as long as we're able."

like a lightning bolt your heart will glow firework -- katy perry words: 235 notes: nada Eddie grinned with Jubilee mentioned she would tell him stories of her time as a new recruit, even beginning with the fact that she -- and Bobby, apparently -- took the Blackbird for a joyride.
He felt a little sheepish when Sierra mentioned that she had kept to herself, but Sierra also looked amused at Jubilee gushing about the Blackbird story. Eddie was looking forward to seeing how Jubilee's return to the manor would shake up the dynamic between all the teachers.
They reached the hallway with the teachers' rooms, and Eddie listened as Logan was described to him. "Honestly, he sounds a little scary," Eddie said with a crooked smile. "But if you two say he was a great guy, then I'll believe you."
Eddie listened to Sierra's guess as to why Bobby had chosen this Logan's room -- although, Eddie supposed, it was Bobby's room now, right? -- and he wondered if Bobby was anticipating finding a diary or some other trinket, something that would be embarrassing to Logan or something that would make Bobby and the other teachers feel a little closer to their missing teacher.
Sierra mentioned the professor's room, and Eddie realized he didn't know too much about him, either. "This place, the Xavier Institute, was the professor's, right? Like how Kurt is to us now, the professor was the headmaster? Or did he just fund this place and someone else was in charge?"

" It was alright. My aunt is an...unusual woman, and we've had our disagreements, but she gave me a good life. I even stuck to the area, worked as a gymnast and a gymnastics teacher until recently." Jubilee gave Sierra and by extension Eddie a small summary of her life the past fifteen years. " You almost could have seen me in the Olympics if I had decided to commit. I qualified during the rest of high school, but being here inspired me to do more than that." Though, even if she had become an olympic athlete, she likely would have dropped it all to return to the institute. Amusement shown in Jubilee's face however as Sierra added she had kept to herself during their many months at the institute. " In other words, Sierra had the most sense among us back then. The rest of us were just...troublemakers out to test our limits like any normal teenager." Jubilee couldn't hide the wide, mischievous grin that formed on her face as she turned her gaze to Sierra. Had she completely changed from those times? Absolutely not. There was still that hyperactive, energetic teenager inside her somewhere, but she had mellowed somewhat since then. " But I promise, no more secret joyrides. Promise that's out of my system...mostly." As if the fireworks display she just did showed otherwise to a point. But for now, she wasn't going to linger on that part as they arrived to the corridor. Scanning the rooms, Jubilee eventually settled on one that seemed to be a few doors down from Logan's old room that was now Bobby's, " Here should work." She spoke up, setting down her bags before looking back at Eddie with surprise. He didn't know much about the professor? That was a little surprising. Though, perhaps it just had yet to come up in conversation with the new recruits as she looked at Sierra then back at Eddie, " He was the headmaster of the institute, in fact he was the one that brought us altogether including the older X-men and Kurt's class. He was a powerful telepath, and from what I remember this mansion belonged to his family for generations." Jubilee looked back at Sierra as she spoke, " And like Sierra said, we want to keep his memory going as long as possible through his vision, keeping his room untouched, sentimental stuff like that." Tag: @jubilee Foxtrot Words: 318 "That would have been fantastic," Sierra said when Jubilee mentioned that she had qualified for the Olympics, "and I am glad to hear that, overall, you've had a good life."
Sierra cast the other two a small smile when Jubilee mentioned to Eddie that Sierra had the most sense among the new recruits back then. It wasn't truly that, and Sierra knew it, but it was nice to hear the positive spin Jubilee gave it. Sierra was doing better, in her humble opinion, with being social -- even without the fact that both of her jobs required her to do so -- from her teenage years.
"Mostly," Sierra echoed dryly. "I'm certain Bobby is itching to take the Blackbird out again as soon as he can." Glancing at Eddie, she added to Jubilee, "Perhaps if and when we start doing flight simulations with the new recruits, Bobby and yourself wouldn't mind heading those exercises, hm?"
Jubilee picked a room for herself and Sierra put down the bag that she had been carrying by the threshold of the bedroom. Eddie mentioned Professor Xavier in response to Sierra informing Jubilee that his old room was off-limits, and Jubilee gave what was most likely a curious look to Sierra before responding to the new recruit.
Granted, Professor Xavier wasn't a topic that was brought up too often to the students. Xavier was not irrelevant, of course, but a history lesson on the founder of the Xavier Institute wasn't usually at the forefront of the teenagers' minds when they joined the manor.
"Roy knows a bit about Professor Xavier," Sierra said when Jubilee finished her brief explanation to Eddie, "from being here the longest. I don't think we've quite gotten the chance to give more details to Eddie about the professor. He was an amazing man for what he did, both for us growing up here and for the world with his scientific discoveries."

and when it's time you'll know firework -- katy perry words: 215 notes: nada Eddie grinned when Jubilee mentioned the Olympics. "That is so cool! I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to go through with it, but guess it's pretty great that you came back here instead."
Although, how awesome would it have been to see a mutant participate in the Olympics? He was sure she wouldn't say she was a mutant, but just the knowledge would be pretty awesome.
Eddie felt a little embarrassed at calling out Sierra about not sharing any good new recruit stories -- not that he really had a chance to bother her about them; he had just been teasing -- and Jubilee took it in stride, praising Sierra for her common sense. Sierra turned it right back around on the other teacher, mentioning that maybe Jubilee and Bobby could be in charge of the flight simulations.
"Whoa, wait," Eddie said. "We'll get the chance to fly the jet? Sign me up!"
The atmosphere got a little heavier, not much, but there was a distinct difference in the level of mirth in the air when Eddie brought up the teachers' old professor. He listened as Jubilee and Sierra both gave a bit of information on Professor Xavier, and Eddie said, "He sounds like an amazing guy. I hope I get to meet him one day."

" Truthfully Eddie, I probably would have dropped it all to come back here." Jubilee told him truthfully. Sure, being an Olympic athlete would have afforded her a fair bit more money, resources, and even fame, but would never beat the life she had once hoped she would have. Before mutants were outed, before Apocalypse, she had always dreamed of joining the older X-men, to help in their quest. Better late than never. Though Jubilee grinned as Sierra turned everything back on her. " I knew there was a humorous side in you somewhere Sierra." Jubilee chuckled softly, " And hey, don't threaten me with a good time! I'll gladly take the jet out for a few rides, and show the new recruits how its done." Hearing Eddie's own enthusiasm to learning how to flight the jet only seemed to fuel Jubilee's excitement. And if Bobby was back, she was sure they could teach the new recruits in no time. " Promise, we'll behave." She assured Sierra with a wink, hoping to ease any worries the other woman might have. Though, with their troublesome streak, that probably didn't ease any of Sierra's thoughts on the matter. Jubilee's smile faded a bit thinking about the professor, wishing he was there now to see what they were accomplishing, " Give it time Eddie, you just might! Its too early yet to say you won't!" Even now Jubilee was trying to express her positive attitude, unsure if that would ever be true or not regarding Xavier. He had disappeared mysteriously, and none of them had heard from him. But, she tried not to think about such a depressing thought, " But anyway, I should probably get unpacking." Tags: Gigabyte, Foxtrot

Tag: @jubilee FoxtrotWords: 185 Notes: Just wrapping up the thread. PM me if I should reopen this again, but it sounded like it was ending. Sierra smiled when her old classmate told Eddie that she would have abandoned the Olympics to return to the institute. There was something to be said for loyalty, and Jubilee showed it in spades.
Thinking on it, loyalty was a common trait that all of the X-Men shared, no matter what class they were from. It was something that Professor Xavier inspired amongst all of them, the reason why Kurt and she -- and, subsequently, Bobby and Jubilee -- returned to the institute to continue the professor's legacy.
Sierra could only hope that they would do as well as teachers with the new recruits they had and would find.
Her smile turned crooked, amused, as Jubilee shared Eddie's enthusiasm regarding Blackbird flying lessons, and Sierra made a mental note to figure out the best, appropriate age as to when they could teach such a thing. It would probably make sense to ensure the new recruits had their driver's licenses first...
"Very well," Sierra said when Jubilee mentioned unpacking. "Eddie and I will leave you be. I'm certain everyone else will be happy to see and meet you."
