Date: Wednesday, June 28, 2023 Words: 178 Tags: Iceman, open Notes: Iceman's official first appearance thread!A familiar signature was detected by the security system.
Kurt held his breath as he glanced over at the monitors from the office desk, seeing the lights rapidly blinking as someone approached the front gate. However, the lights soon turned green as that particular someone input a correct passcode. Kurt teleported from his desk to the monitors, searching the images to find who had come to the manor.
He was certain that everyone who lived at the manor was inside or around the grounds somewhere. The security system knew of everyone else's signature enough not to trip up. Even if someone did need to put in a passcode, Kurt wasn't aware of anyone going out in the first place.
No, the person sauntering up the driveway with a couple of suitcases in tow was not a new recruit, not with his muscles and stubble. Kurt's tail twitched in anticipation as he grinned and, with a BAMF!, teleported to the front stoop just as the other man reached it.
"Mr. Drake," Kurt greeted. "It's been quite a while, ja?"

Bobby prided himself on remembering his passcode for entering the grounds of Xavier Institute. At least that hadn't changed (even better that his code hadn't been erased from the system!).
After the iron gates swung open, Bobby took a moment to admire the view of the manor where he had spent about ten years of his life, some of the most important years regarding his personal growth both for his powers and his personality. Although he had done his best to write and even call occasionally while away at college and abroad, the efforts to keep in touch dwindled on both ends with him and the remaining institute residents becoming busy with their own lives.
Vaguely, Bobby wondered if the professor had ever returned or sent some sort of notice as to what had happened to him. Bobby hadn't heard anything regarding the professor, what with Xavier being a fairly well-known public figure, but if the professor didn't want the public to know something, Bobby knew he would be able to keep it under wraps.
Whatever reservations Bobby had about returning to the manor and being remembered dissipated in a puff of smoke when Kurt himself teleported onto the stoop before Bobby could even reach the doorbell.
"Kurt!" Bobby dropped his suitcases and reached over to give his old friend a hug. He coughed slightly at the smell of brimstone, but his grin never left his face. "I'm going to have to get used to that again. That is, unless you've given away my room..."

Words: 154 Tags: IcemanBobby greeted Kurt in return with all the enthusiasm that Kurt remembered about the younger man. The headmaster chuckled as he heard the slight cough that Bobby gave when the pair embraced.
"Ah, see?" Kurt said. "That means you've been away too long, mein freund. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get used to it again in no time now that you're back. I'm sure you've got a nice diploma in tow as well?"
Granted, Kurt had heard of Bobby graduating from the scarce letters that had flown between the young man and the institute a few years ago, but it was another thing to hear the good news from Bobby himself.
"I think we can scrounge up a room for you," Kurt said teasingly. "It may not be your old dorm room, though. Pretty sure we've rented that out. There are a few nice accommodations down the X-Men hallway, if you'd like one of those again."

"I've no doubt," Bobby said with a grin regarding the fact that he'll get used to Kurt's teleportation smoke again. He glanced up at the foyer as the duo walked into the house, seeing the familiar grand staircase, the ceiling light fixtures, the red carpets... He took a deep breath, just taking it all in.
"It's great to be home," he said, casting a soft smile at Kurt.
"Yep, got the shiny diploma, certificates, passed the tests, all that," Bobby said with a dismissive wave of his hand. "It was all a bit of a pain in the rear, but I'm now a certified accountant! Gonna go look for a day job while hanging around here, if that's cool. Maybe even part-time, if that works out, since I almost forgot the splendor of this place."
Bobby laughed as Kurt teased him about the rooms. "Oh, darn!" he said. "I was so hoping for that old dorm room... You know, I used to hide snacks under one of the floorboards. Can't quite remember if I got them all before I left..."

Words: 200 Tags: Iceman, openKurt listened with rapt attention as Bobby casually spoke of his diploma, certificates, and passing grades for all the tests and exams that came with being an accountant. "Still don't understand your love of numbers and math, mein freund," he said with a fond shake of his head. "That's all wonderful, though. Congratulations."
Bobby spoke of finding a job soon enough, and Kurt responded, "Might as well put your skills to work. However, you know you're always welcome here, regardless if you have a job or not outside of these walls. I'm sure you'll enjoy meeting and helping out with all the new recruits, should you wish to continue being a part of the X-Men."
It truly was Bobby's decision, although if Kurt remembered the younger man's enthusiasm from years ago, Kurt had no doubt that Bobby wouldn't mind donning the X-Men costume again, should the group need to.
"There are plenty of things we should discuss once you get settled," Kurt said. When Bobby mentioned the possibility of leaving food behind in his old dorm room, Kurt made a face. "I certainly hope we cleaned everything thoroughly enough to find any sort of hidden stashes that you may have left behind!"

Tag: Nightcrawler, IcemanWords: 203 Notes: Figured Sierra should greet Bobby, too! The security system was very excited about Bobby's appearance on the grounds. Some of the oldest parts of the security system knew who he was, but most of the network was newer, ready to sound the alarm from Bobby's appearance. It only settled when Bobby input his old passcode. Sierra was pleased that they kept the passcodes from the previous X-Men team in the system.
Erasing the old passcodes seemed too final.
Sierra most likely would have left Kurt to greet Bobby himself, opting to save reconnecting with their old teammate at another time, but she had been heading towards the foyer from the sub-basement's elevator. It would be rather silly to turn around to avoid crossing paths, and she would need to greet her old-new housemate sooner rather than later, at any rate. The pair had been at the institute years ago together, but Sierra herself hadn't been the most social new recruit during their teenage years.
Sierra heard the tail-end of the conversation about Bobby's snack stash, and she said, "Perhaps we can get Willow to search the rooms with a canine nose just in case we did miss something."
She smiled up at up Bobby, greeting him with, "Welcome home, Bobby."

"Hey, someone around here has to know how to pay the bills and stuff, right?" Bobby elbowed Kurt playfully. "Can't imagine how you guys are still open for business with all the debt you probably have under your belts."
Kurt mentioned the new recruits and Bobby grinned. "Can't wait to meet the lot of them. Any of them remind you of me? Awesome good looks, a touch of roguish charm, maybe with a tiny penchant for trouble...? With you running the show, I'm sure they're all good kids."
Another voice joined the pair of them as they went further into the foyer, and it took Bobby a few seconds to recognize the young woman who appeared. She still had the same, shy smile, although Bobby was sure she never showed it as easily as a teen as she did now.
Bobby returned her smile with a grin of his own and he said, "Thanks, Sierra. It's fantastic to see you again." He did pause before asking, "Who's Willow? A dog? Do we actually have a dog around here?"
He sobered up a bit as took another long gaze around the foyer and began to make his way toward the grand staircase. "I'm really glad you guys are still open for business, though," he said sincerely. "Dunno what I would have done if something had happened to this place... to home."

Words: 202 Tags: Gigabyte, IcemanKurt laughed when Bobby mentioned that the institute must be in debt and his grin softened into a smile when Sierra appeared. In response to both her joining the conversation and Bobby commenting that the new recruits must be good kids with him running the show, Kurt said, "It's been a team effort, believe me."
Sierra mentioned Willow and Bobby latched onto the idea of a dog running around the manor, and Kurt shook his head. "No, not a dog," he said, his grin growing again. "Willow is one of the new recruits. An animal shapeshifter. She's probably one of the more extroverted one of the students, so I'm certain you'll meet her sooner rather than later."
Actually, the shyest of the group of students was probably Roy, but he was also the one who has been at the institute the longest. Kurt was certain that the other two tended to look to him as a big brother of sorts.
Bobby paused to take a longer look around the foyer before heading up the staircase and Kurt nodded to his words. With a glance at Sierra, Kurt said, "So am I, mein freund. If we can help it, this place will always be home."

Tag: Iceman, NightcrawlerWords: 238 Kurt caught Sierra's gaze, responding to Bobby's remark about the new recruits being good kids and running the estate was a team effort. Sierra returned his smile with her own in a silent thank you, but broke the eye contact, reserved from the sudden attention.
"Don't let Kurt be so modest," she said. "He has been the driving force in keeping the Xavier Institute open. I just have the better memory for the details. Believe me, it'll be nice to have someone willing to keep a handle on the finances, if you weren't joking about paying the bills."
Bobby guessed that Willow was a dog and Kurt corrected him. Sierra wondered if Bobby would actually be interested in helping out with Danger Room sessions. If so, his personality would most likely complement Willow's well. It'd be something to bring up to Kurt and, of course, Bobby, but she supposed she should let Bobby get settled back into the institute first.
The mirth in the air turned a touch serious as Bobby mentioned how glad he was that the institute was still there to be home. Kurt caught Sierra's gaze again as he responded, and Sierra took a moment to gaze around the foyer with a new appreciation.
"Agreed," she said. "I agree with both of you. The Xavier Institute has always been home to me, as well... I hadn't realized that until I was able to return after college."

Bobby grinned despite himself when both Kurt and Sierra deflected to give the other praise. Bobby himself could remember all the trouble he and the rest of his class got into when they were growing up at the institute -- he knew that the professor, Ororo, and Logan didn't have the easiest time with them. He could imagine that superpowered teenagers of today gave Kurt and Sierra a run for their money.
"Looking forward to meeting her, and the others, then," Bobby said with a grin after Kurt described Willow. "Any animal? Rahne was like a werewolf, I remember that clearly."
He scuffed his feet on the carpet as they went up the grand staircase, enjoying the familiar feel of the carpet beneath his shoes. It hadn't changed at all, such a little thing about the institute that Bobby would have never thought about if he hadn't been gone for so long.
"You too?" Bobby asked Sierra when she mentioned agreeing with both the guys about calling the institute home. His tone had no bite to it, just curiosity, as he said, "I remember you keeping to yourself, mostly, and you leaving here as soon as you were able. Nothing wrong with that, but I honestly thought you'd return to your hometown after graduating. I'm glad to see you here."

Words: 264 Tags: Iceman Gigabyte"That is true," Kurt said with a grin when Sierra mentioned that she had the mind for details. "We make an excellent team. It'll be even better if you wish to join it again, Bobby," he added.
Kurt had no doubt the three of them would be fantastic administrators for the manor together, just as the professor, Ororo, and Logan had been. Sierra, even if it had been said in jest, truly did have the mind behind the institute, and Kurt was certain Bobby would be able to bring back some of his enthusiasm and energy from when he had been a teenager. Kurt himself may be the headmaster but he was game to be the main support behind the other two, building up the others' strengths. The other two would do the same for him.
Bobby mentioned Rahne, and Kurt confirmed his question about Willow's abilities. Thinking of Rahne brought back memories of the other teenagers that had grown up at the institute, and Kurt wondered if any others would eventually make their way back to the manor.
The three paused at the top of the grand staircase, Kurt smiling as Bobby took it all in again. The smile grew in response to Sierra agreeing that the Xavier Institute was home to her as well, an odd feeling of relief washing over him as she stated that.
"I'm glad you came to that realization, Fräulein," Kurt said. "You've helped this place become a home. And it can only get better now that you are also here, Bobby. Shall we find you a room?"

Tag: Iceman Gigabyte Words: 217 Notes: If you have a different headcanon about where Kurt's bedroom is, let me know, lol. Kurt readily agreed with Sierra's joking remark about her having the mind for details, and she gave him a crooked smile as he mentioned that they made a good team. Bobby joining them could only improve how the Xavier Institute was run, she was sure.
Then both men in front of her made gentle comments about her mentioning that the estate was home to her as well, and she paused for a heartbeat to form an appropriate response. "I am aware I was never too social when we were growing up here," Sierra said quietly, "and I will admit that it took a while for me to get used to the fact that I could be myself while developing my abilities here at that time.
"I believe it was because I went away to college that I realized how much I thought of this place as home," Sierra continued. "I have vowed to do better when it comes to being open to others when I returned here."
The trio made it to the floor with the bedrooms and Sierra glanced down the hallway. "My room is the closest to the stairs on the left side, while Kurt's is farthest down. All the others are open for you to choose, Bobby."

184 words | Nightcrawler Gigabyte | This could be a nice ending? Feel free to lock it if like, or we can continue it. Bobby grinned in reaction to both Kurt commenting on how well of a team the three of them would make, fully welcoming Bobby back into the fold. His grin turned softer when Sierra spoke about her past experiences while growing up at the institute, the social standards she held for herself, and how she was actively doing better with it.
"I'm glad you came to that realization," Bobby said sincerely. Gesturing to himself and Kurt, he added, "Don't worry, Sierra, we're here to help with that. I'm sure that Kurt has already been doing so.
"Thank you both for the amazing welcome back," he continued, looking down the hallway of bedrooms. Sierra mentioned which rooms were hers and Kurt's, and he paused to think.
Truth be told, he was curious about Professor Xavier's old room, but that wasn't something he wanted to ask about. Neither Kurt nor Sierra mentioned it, but Bobby would be surprised if that room was available at all.
With a cheeky grin, he instead said, "Which one was Logan's? I want to see if there's anything left hidden behind in that room."

Words: 170 Tags: Gigabyte Iceman Notes: Sounds good! Just wanted to do this one last wrap-up.Kurt hadn't quite been prepared for the warm and fuzzy feeling he got when Sierra mentioned that she had vowed to do better with being open, and then when Bobby promised that he would help just as he was sure Kurt himself had been doing.
Kurt could only hope that he could live up to their expectations.
"Ja, most of the other rooms are up for grabs," he said when Sierra detailed which rooms were hers and his. "The only other room that is not available is the one in the middle of the right corridor..."
Professor Xavier's old room.
Kurt laughed aloud when Bobby asked which room had been Logan's. "If there's anything left behind from when Logan took off, I'll be surprised. He didn't have much to his name. If I remember correctly, it was near the end of the right side of the hallway..." he said, beginning to lead the way to what would be Bobby's room.
