Description: Upon first inspection, Sierra is not one that would stand out in terms of looks. She has generic dark brown hair that falls a bit below her shoulders either in a wavy or straight style. Her eyes match her hair's shade. She's fairly lean with muscles and has a pale complexion due to not being the type to go outside too much. Of average height, Sierra stands at about five feet six inches, and she does her best to have a straight posture in an attempt to show confidence. Her body language generally portrays a woman who does not appreciate nonsense, yet she usually tries to have a small smile on her lips. She tends to dress professionally and comfortably, and always seems to be aware of those that she may need to impress.
Personality: Sierra is a thinker, one that is prone to observing her surroundings before speaking or acting. Her mind is always on, open to any and all ideas, and she can sometimes get lost in her thoughts. Due to this, she tends to remain in the background until she, or someone else, believes that she is needed. Those who may not know her well may believe that she is aloof, impersonal to people, perhaps even conceited or snobby for not being as social as society deems acceptable. However, she is always willing to listen and help out others however she can. Intelligent and a fast-learner, Sierra does very well reading social cues and others' body language. She is dependable and determined to do what is right in any given situation. If there is a problem to be solved, Sierra will readily accept the challenge. Generally, Sierra is a level-headed young woman, but being filled with electric energy does tend to make one fidgety. Growing up more in the company of machines and electronics, it can be difficult for Sierra to trust others, and she tends to question others' motives for wanting to be with her, but she's loyal to the true friends that she does make.
Powers: Her main ability is being a technopath, someone who is able to mentally communicate with electronics and circuitry. She generally uses it to have conversations with electronics, namely her laptop. If she's persuasive enough, she can manipulate the electronics, such as having a computer allow her access to password-protected files.
Electricity manipulation is another perk, if you will, to her mutation. Her body stores electricity, usually for energy, enabling her to stay awake as long as she has electricity, but she can also discharge it as she see fits. She usually uses this ability to power up batteries, strengthen a room's lights, or protect herself from would-be attackers. She usually keeps enough stored electricity to create currents that are strong enough to stun a few large men. If she absorbs enough electricity, however, she would be able to create a bolt to cause a human foe lasting damage, such as paralysis or a coma. She's never had a need to do so, though, and hopes she never will.
A minor side effect of her powers would be her mind being organized like a computer; with a mental command, she can see in her mind’s eye an arrow and makes it “click” on whatever she needs, such as pulling up a certain memory from a specific date. Her mind enables her to have a photographic memory and a ready connection to the Internet.
Weaknesses: Despite her years of practice, Sierra does not have complete control over her discharging abilities; if her body tries to store too much electricity, she will begin to shoot off wild sparks. She does her best to regularly "feed" electricity into outlets, but has been known to blow out the power in buildings by stuffing the ports with electricity. On the flip side, if she discharges too much electricity, Sierra's energy is sapped, causing her to become sluggish, sleepy, and devoid of electricity until her body rests and reabsorbs more energy.
Her discharge control is also tied into her emotions; as such, she does her best to keep her emotions in check at all times. Keeping a delicate emotional balance and a leveled amount of stored electricity in her body are the most difficult aspects of Sierra's mutation, and she is terrified of one day losing control.
She is also hydrophobic due to the fact that her electricity does not mix well with water. Like a robot who would "short-circuit" if it tried to swim, Sierra's electricity would paralyze her from swimming properly. As such, she also cannot be outside during heavy thunderstorms; she would act as a lightning rod. She's fine during a light rain, but her hair does tend to stand on end because of the moisture and her electricity.
Skills/Hobbies: Sierra is logical and skilled at thinking through situations from several angles in order to achieve the best result. Puzzles are one of her true loves -- brain teasers, sudoku, crosswords, jigsaws, she enjoys them all. She is also a decent mechanic. Sierra feels more at home with machines than people, and is very skilled using tools. She loves to build and repair devices from games to computers to cars, and it seems to be one of the few topics that genuinely gets Sierra excited. Another interest Sierra has are the arts, be they writing or visual. To her, writing is a safe outlet for her emotions and she has several journals locked away in her room. She enjoys dabbling in fiction and mystery as well. Visual arts are beautiful to her, and she loves the thoughts and emotions that a painting can evoke.
History: David and Melissa Parker had big plans for themselves when they got married and settled into their dream home just on the outskirts of Boston, Massachusetts. They would both work for a couple of years, David as a charismatic real estate agent and Melissa as a secretary at a loan firm, until they had a comfortable nest egg with which they would start a family. They would have three children, at least one of each gender, and they would be perfect angels. Perhaps one child would be a brilliant intellect, another a strong athlete, and the third a visionary artist.
With Sierra as their first child, the proud parents were one step closer to their dreams. Even at an early age, Sierra proved to be an intelligent child -- whether this was a foreshadow of her budding mutation or if she truly was gifted, nobody knew. She was a fast learner and, for the most part, well behaved. The little family was happy, and when Sierra was about five years old, Melissa and David attempted to have another child. Unfortunately, the couple had trouble conceiving a second time and, after they finally had gotten pregnant, stopped trying after Melissa had a miscarriage during her first trimester. Although crushed at losing a child, the couple did count their blessings and focused on raising Sierra.
The years came and went, and Sierra was soon a preteen, budding on puberty. When she officially became a woman at the tender age of eleven, her mutant powers also began to make themselves known. At first it was just little things -- the television turning off on its own, lights flickering, the radio switching stations -- that did not concern David and Melissa. They figured it was a fluke on the electric company's part. However, Sierra soon went to her parents complaining of how much static her hair generated or how she kept seeing sparks more and more often. The parents brushed off the concerns, telling Sierra that it was nothing to worry about, while they fretted about the idea that their precious daughter could be a mutant.
David and Melissa could no longer deny the signs when thirteen-year-old Sierra accidentally shocked her best friend after a petty argument over a boy.
The couple were discerned, to say the least, yet they did wish to help their daughter. After some research, they found Xavier's Institute, and it was there that they sent Sierra. Because of her electric powers, Sierra withdrew into herself, keeping her beloved parents and any possible friends at arms-length. She made plenty of acquaintances and got a decent handle on her powers as she grew, yet when she graduated high school early with the help of her mind, she moved on to an out-of-state college. She continued to practice discreetly with her powers as she had been taught while getting her degree.
Years later, she has decided to return when she heard of the disappearance of Professor Xavier and the job opening of Bayville High's principal. Sierra rejoined the mansion and earned the principal position, where she does her best to remain neutral in regards to both her mutant and human students.
