Date: Saturday, November 4, 2023 Words: 253 Tags: @scarletwitch Notes: I'm unsure what kind of shop Emporium is, so I left that vague. I presume with her abilities that Wanda would be able to gleam/recognize Kurt. Please let me know if there's anything off that you would like me to edit in my post. According to Sierra, Cerebro was picking up a few other mutant signatures, which wasn't surprising. What was surprising was Sierra mentioning that one such new signature in the area at this time was not new to Cerebro. Sierra couldn't tell what mutant the signatures were from, but she seemed certain that Cerebro had encountered this one before.
Kurt didn't question it.
Instead, Kurt himself took the day to investigate the general area that the familiar signature was found. It had been a while since Kurt had gone strolling through this section of Bayville, finding newer stores and novelty shops that were different than from when he grew up. It was an acute reminder that times changed, and Kurt wasn't sure if he felt like he had been left behind or not.
His image inducer was on, of course, his typical, holographic disguise being of a man of average height, slightly tanned skin, dark hair and eyes taking in the sights. Being the beginning of November, he had a long coat on, one that did well hiding his tail even if it was invisible thanks to the image inducer. He wandered in and out of shops, eventually entering one such shop called Emporium.
As he gazed neutrally at the goods the shop displayed, Kurt eventually caught sight of the presumed owner and he paused. The redhead was very familiar, and it took him a moment to recognize the young woman who had used to be the teenager he had known as the Scarlet Witch.

Compared to most shops on the block, Emporium was slightly warmer than average shop upon walking in, filled with the scents of herbs, spices, flowers, and other smells. As one could expect from a floral/botanical shop, the shelves and displays filled with a variety of herbs, flowers, candles, and carefully crafted herbal remedies, teas, incenses, and more, an assortment of goods its owner had carefully picked, grew, and put together. Wanda's shop was relatively new, only set up recently. But given her abilities, and the general bustling location Bayville was, she had set up shop quickly just in time for the holiday rush to begin to set in. That day, Wanda was doing a bit of organizing, trying to make the shop look presentable and easier to navigate, clothed in a black short sleeve with a red leather vest which with the temperature in the shop seemed fitting enough pair with faded blue jeans and black and red sneakers, things she didn't mind getting dirty while working the shop. But her hair was carefully pulled back into braid as to keep it out of her face aside from a few strands framing her face. She heard the soft chiming of the bells from her door as she worked on some arrangements behind the counter, and in typical fashion reached out with her telepathy to barely brush the mind of what she expected to be a customer. She did this to get a feel for what they were looking for, to subtly point them in the right direction as to not waste their time. What she sensed though was rather unexpected. She knew that mind, immediately pulling away the moment she made contact and turning on the spot to confirm the brief thoughts she had gleaned. Though she was confused at first as the thoughts...didn't match the face, causing Wanda to be silent for a moment as she observed the man who had stepped into her little shop and her eyes drifting to his wrist. Of course, the image inducer. " Never thought I'd see one of you X-men again, after all these years." Wanda's tone was surprised but lacked the hostility and animosity she once held, offering a slight smile in greeting. " If I remember right, Kurt wasn't it? Or Nightcrawler?" Words: 160 Tags: @scarletwitch Notes: Perfect!Kurt did his best not to sneeze when he first walked into the shop. It had a pleasant aroma, but it was a touch strong with the assortment of goods on display. Still, it seemed as if the shop itself was being set up rather nicely.
Despite only feeling it for an instant, Kurt did recognize the feel of another touching his mind. It grounded him to the present, especially when the shop's proprietor greeted him by name.
Kurt returned the small smile with one of his own, saying, "Ja. Kurt Wagner, mostly, nowadays. I had very little reason to leave Bayville as I grew, but I'm curious as to what brought you back after all these years."
He gazed about the shop, assessing it, and his tone was sincere when he said, "I did not expect to see you again either, Ms. Maximoff. It looks as if you are doing well, and I hope you continue to do so."

Kurt's inquiry was fair. To be quite honest, Wanda would never had expected to return to Bayville after what had happened all those years ago, when she had been far less...in control for lack of a better word. But neither would she have expected to run into the X-men by any means having expected all of them to have gone their separate ways as the Brotherhood seemed to have done when it came to Freedom Force. " I suppose I missed familiar sights after being away for so long." Wanda admitted, moving over to a sink to wash her hands from dirt and petals that had accumulated with working on the shop most of that morning. " I left SHIELD after hearing my father disappeared, traveled abroad, did some soul searching, nothing spectacular." Though, could soul searching be considered spectacular? She had grown as a person, changed from the angry, troubled teenager she had been to someone she felt was an entirely new person when she looked in the mirror. It did make her think of her twin from time to time, wondering how he was doing. ' Will you come back too Pietro?' She thought to herself before she dried her hands and turned her full attention back to Kurt. His words warmed her heart a bit, her greeting smile turning to a genuinely bright, proud one, " You could say my soul searching has been quite successful Kurt, I'm glad to hear you see that." She moved around from the counter setting the rag down on a small table beside the sink. " I know I use to be quite the menace in our teen years, but I'm trying to be better." Though, curiosity quickly shown in her own expression, " But how about you Mr.Wagner? Still the wise-cracking fuzzy dude or have you matured since?" She inquired, even lightly teasing the demon-looking mutant. Tags: Nightcrawler

Words: 220 Tags: @scarletwitchKurt's mouth twitched into a crooked smile as Wanda nonchalantly described what she had been up to for the past decade or so. "It sounds rather spectacular to me," he said. "Bettering oneself is always a worthy pursuit."
She gave him a bright smile, and Kurt's own grew. He rather liked seeing that someone as troubled in her youth as Wanda had been was able to smile that brightly. He gave her a nod when she mentioned that she was trying to be better, and he said, "I believe we've all had personal demons to conquer.
"A little of both," Kurt said, his grin turning crooked when she asked about how well he had grown himself. "I have to have a bit of fun in life, ja?
"I've actually taken over the Xavier Institute," he said, growing a touch serious. "I am running it with a few others that have grown up with us, and we have a good handful of young mutants learning to grow with their powers. While, of course, attending public high school. It's a proud moment when I am able to give someone the, 'Back in my day,' lectures."
Kurt did pause after a heartbeat before taking the plunge and asking, "Are you... Did you return to the Brotherhood Boarding House? Are you one of Todd Tolansky's tenants?"

" Suppose it is." Wanda agreed. But, with age came change after all. It seemed Kurt was still fun-loving fuzzball, but there was almost a mellow air to him, more mature than their younger years. She wasn't surprised, and it did make her think about the rest of the X-men and the Brotherhood. How different had things become for them, how different were their attitudes, their views. Fifteen years could see short to some and long to others, and to her it felt like it had been a blur on her trip to self-discovery. Though the woman's expression became thoughtful, leaning against the counter as she regarded the man for a silent moment. " Definitely been a long road for us hasn't it." Thinking about it, Wanda had to admit her demons and Kurt's weren't really so different especially when considering all the trouble their respective parents had put them through, the lives they lived, and how they ended up. But, bringing up certain parts of their past didn't seem ideal in this moment. Instead, Wanda focused back on the conversation, frowning when Kurt mentioned he was the current headmaster of the Xavier Institute. " Congratulations! I'm glad to hear the institute has reopened its doors. I'm...sorry to hear for the loss of Xavier." Wanda was both joyful at hearing the news yet saddened as well, having heard rumor of the telepath's disappearance alongside Magneto's own. " I heard rumors years ago, that Xavier disappeared. I had hoped it wasn't true when I caught wind about my father, that maybe he might still be here in Bayville." A part of her had been hopeful deep down that said rumor hadn't been true, sighing softly. " That is my main reason I was wandering abroad, to find my father, any trace or clue, but no dice. Even with my abilities, his presence has eluded me." But where had they gone? A new threat they didn't know of? Were they in trouble? So many questions, so few answers. Still, she offered a quick bright smile once more, " I'm sure those kids are in excellent hands Kurt, I think Xavier would be proud of you and the other X-men." Her bright smile was quickly replaced with surprise at Kurt's question, her expression telling it all before she had even spoke, " The boarding house is being used again?" The Boarding house hadn't even crossed her mind, much less expecting it to be in use and by yet another familiar face. " I haven't seen nor talked to Todd since SHIELD. Honestly, I hadn't thought of the boarding house in years." She confirmed, wondering how Todd was doing these days. Tags: Nightcrawler

Words: 270 Tags: @scarletwitch"It has," Kurt agreed when Wanda mentioned how long the road had been for them, and thanked her when she congratulated him on reopening the doors to the Xavier Institute.
To her words of sympathy regarding the professor, he gave her a deep nod and said, "Thank you. Likewise for your father. We... haven't heard word on either of their whereabouts. We like to believe that they are still out there somewhere."
Kurt himself wasn't quite sure as to Wanda's feelings on her father. She mentioned trying to look for him, but for what purpose? Kurt recalled Wanda as being volatile with much anger being directed towards her father. Then Apocalypse happened and, well...
One of Kurt's most prominent memories of Wanda, however, was when she had been kind enough to contact Agatha Harkness on his behalf in his attempt to try to revive Mystique. She hadn't pried then and he wouldn't pry now.
"Forgive me for the surprise," Kurt said when it was more than apparent that Wanda hadn't been aware of the Brotherhood Boarding House reopening. "Ja, Todd is a landlord. I believe he reopened it for mainly adult mutants with nowhere else to go, but he has somehow become guardian to a few teenage mutants as well." Kurt shrugged. "I only know this news because he also works with another of the X-Men... I'm unsure if you remember Sierra Parker. She is still at the Xavier Institute, but is also the principal of Bayville High. Todd is a janitor there."
He paused and chuckled. "The paths our lives have taken sound ridiculous when saying such things aloud."

" I'm sure they're somewhere Kurt, they didn't make it this far in life being the type to roll over and show their bellies." Wanda was trying to be optimistic for both their sakes. Despite the anger and darkness she had held as a result of her father for years, she had since learned to let them go as Agatha had once taught her when she was younger. Plus take into account what Magneto had attempted to alter her memories she had come to realize her father had done the things he did for one reason or another, even if some of those reasons had been misguided. " Plus it may not be so simple; my father's helmet prevents any sort of telepathic or psionic findings and Xavier's telepathy might allow him to mask his presence entirely. So, maybe when they're ready, they'll reveal themselves." Though, the young woman could acknowledge that she was probably being a little too hopeful and optimistic. Both men were powerful in their own right, but after they had been taken over by Apocalypse it proved even the most powerful of men could fall. Hopefully, this wasn't the case yet again, that somehow Apocalypse was making a return right under their noses and they just couldn't see it. Trying to not let such negative thoughts way on her mind, Wanda could only chuckle softly, " Wow, hard to believe so many of us still remain in Bayville, or returned. And to think Todd of all people would find himself a guardian of young mutants is a bit of surprise." She mused, remembering the troublemaker him and most of the rest of the Brotherhood had been as teenagers. And to hear most of them seemed to be working at Bayville High was a blast from the past indeed. " I thought Sierra seemed familiar, I spoke with her when going through my hiring process at Bayville myself in fact. I'll be working at the school as the new guidance counselor." Maybe she might chance upon Todd during their work hours. " Quite the shock isn't it, far cry from all our expectations perhaps." Wanda agreed with a small laugh of her own. Tags: Nightcrawler

Words: 226 Tags: @scarletwitch "Very true," Kurt said, agreeing with Wanda's words regarding the previous leaders. "I suppose after everything that has happened, they deserve a break." He just wished the rest of the X-Men -- and, he supposed, the Brotherhood -- had gotten some notice, if only for the sake of closure. Wanda's words were optimistic and Kurt wouldn't begrudge her the positivity she decided to voice.
Kurt actually chuckled when Wanda mentioned what a surprise it was that Todd became guardian of some young mutants. "Judging by what Sierra has told me of her interactions with Todd, it seemed to be a surprise to him as well. I don't believe he set out to have teenagers under his wing."
It was Kurt's turn to be surprised when Wanda mentioned that she would also be working at Bayville High. He made a mental note to make more time to talk with Sierra and the other instructors at the manor, as he was sure Sierra would have told him about Wanda like she had mentioned when Todd was hired. "Our conversation is bringing many coincidences to light, isn't it? I'm certain Sierra knew who you were, what with her own abilities and all. I hope your new position goes well there."
Gesturing to the shop around them, Kurt asked, "This will be a part-time endeavor, then? Your shop looks nice so far."

" Yes, I suppose you're right. Suppose the last thing they want is all of us bothering them." Despite Wanda's optimism, there was no hiding the faint concern in her tone. She wanted to be positive, to think the two men had merely wanted retirement and to get away from all the fallout of their dreams and what Apocalypse had put them through. Maybe they had only decided to retire to an undisclosed location, assuming their proteges could handle the responsibility. Whatever the case, Wanda didn't want to linger on it for too long. Maybe one day they'd discover the truth. Wanda's fainting optimism quickly turned to amusement, " Suppose it is quite ironic. Todd use to be one of the biggest troublemakers among the Brotherhood, and now fate seems to be pushing him to be the most responsible." She did recall in her travels with Agatha that she spoke of fate, how sometimes it had a funny way of coming back to haunt them in ways they didn't expect. " I'm sure Todd will do just fine." Even if Todd had once gotten on her nerves when they were younger, she knew when it came to it he could step up to the plate when the time called for it. Today seemed full of surprised as their conversation progressed, the redhead merely smiling, " I hope so. I'm hoping being a guidance counselor I can help those avoid a fate similar to my own growing up, as well as my brother's. I know it might sound cliche, but given Bayville's penchant for attracting the miserable, the different, and the unusual, it seemed fitting to return to the hotbed of what started it all for us." Wanda explained, those feelings still seared into her memory. Plus from what she had sensed at the school, there were a number of mutants there once again, " And I still want to respect my father's memory in some small way, help our fellow mutants continue to grow and find their purpose, but more constructively. With the world we're living in now, I know those challenges are still there, so I thought maybe it might help find common ground on both sides." Wanda admitted. And maybe, just maybe she could show not only had she changed but that war didn't have to be an option... " Yes actually. I've been working on it for a few days, so its nearly complete." Wanda beamed with pride regarding her shop, " I studied a lot about herbal remedies, teas, botany, cooking, and certain symbolisms during my travels, so I decided to bring a little slice of it to Bayville." Wanda chuckled softly, " Suppose I leaned a bit more into the witchcraft thanks to Agatha, and it seems to be the new in things among certain groups." Tags: Nightcrawler

Words: 366 Tags: @scarletwitchKurt chuckled at the idea of the remaining X-Men and Brotherhood members bothering their respective leaders. "If they hadn't wanted that, they should never have taken in teenagers," he said dryly. A touch more seriously, he added, "I'm certain they'll contact us when they're ready."
Kurt nodded his agreement about Todd's antics when they were younger, recalling that Todd was quick to change sides depending on who was winning when it came to skirmishes, but he did sound like he matured. Kurt just couldn't shake the feeling that he was waiting for the other shoe to drop, but he hoped it never came. "True. Sierra has yet to complain about him, expect for perhaps he's a bit informal with her due to our pasts. Evidently he's grumbled when he had to register the teenagers under his care, but seems to be taking it in stride." He paused. "Forgive me for being nosy, but were you planning on visiting the Brotherhood House again?"
He wasn't sure if he would had their situations been reversed. He wasn't sure how she felt about that particular part of her past, but personally, he probably would have at least visited the place for a bit of closure.
Wanda revealed as to why she became a guidance counselor, and Kurt's smile matched her own. "That sounds like a wonderful pursuit. I'm certain you'll thrive in that position with those intentions." After a heartbeat, he added, "Of course, you have allies should you need them. While I don't really have a hand in the high school, I do know that Sierra is dedicated to making it an open place for all students, mutants and non-mutants alike. Are you... open to being a mutant to the other faculty? If you don't mind me asking?"
He didn't believe Sierra was, but her position on mutants was clear to everyone who spoke with her, particularly due to her hiring Todd.
Kurt's smile widened into a grin when Wanda started proudly speaking of her shop. "I've heard of a lot of this," he said, gesturing to everything surrounding them, "but I confess I don't know too much about it. What would you recommend for a first-time buyer?"
