♡ TAGS open! WORDS 164 NOTES Fri Oct 13, 2023 Clarissa tapped away on her cell phone as she waited outside of Mr. Knott's classroom. It was almost the end of a period, and Clarissa had left her own class early under the guise of a bathroom break to go and see him. She had no idea why the science teacher was in charge of the Halloween Dance details, but she wasn't going to complain. He probably hadn't volunteered for the job. Clarissa guessed he had been assigned. He may not be too invested in the idea of the dance itself, but if he was willing enough to let the students do what they want to get the dance approved and planned, then Clarissa would deal with it. Bayville High had Halloween dances for the past few years, and Clarissa didn't know why this year it was up in the air. Were the new principal and other faculty so expensive to hire that social activities like school dances were put on the chopping block?

Words: 178 The bell rang to signal the end of the period, and Willow was looking more so at the packet that was part of the homework rather than where she was going when she walked out of the classroom. Because of that, she nearly walked into someone waiting outside of the room.
"Oh, God, I'm sorry," Willow said, a crooked smile on her face while her tone was sheepish. "Really wasn't looking where I was going. I'm instead realizing that I'm not quite understanding something about the homework, which probably means I should go back in and double-check with Mr. Knott..."
She trailed off while almost turning around to go back into the classroom, but she stopped herself and looked at the other student. "I'm sorry, you seemed to be waiting for Mr. Knott. I can bother him after you're all set with your question."
Willow glanced at her cell phone for the time, figuring they had another minute or two before she needed to rush off to English Lit. Maybe Mr. Knott would give her a hall pass.

"Young ladies, is there something I can help you with?" Mr. Knott had been about to leave his room for a short break but found the two students loitering in the hallways just outside his door.
Both students were in his classes -- he had seen Ms. Jenkins earlier in the day for chemistry, and it wasn't like Ms. Foster to dawdle after biology -- and in completely separate grades, so Mr. Knott couldn't fathom as to why the pair would be seen together. Different classes, different grades, yet they were both just standing there.
He did notice that Willow was staring at the packet that was part of the homework for the night, and she did seem a little perplexed. "Did you have a question on the assignment for tonight, Ms. Foster?" he asked. "Otherwise, the pair of you should really start heading towards your next class." ( Clarissa Jenkins Critter open!)

♡ Clarissa merely raised an eyebrow at the little presumably freshman that nearly ran into her. Clarissa hadn't been about to move, so the other student was damn lucky she hadn't bumped into Clarissa and ruined her makeup or outfit or anything. They still had two classes to go, after all. The other student rambled for a moment, her own words trailing off as if she had been talking to herself before turning her attention again to Clarissa. She at least apologized and gestured for Clarissa to speak to the teacher next considering Clarissa had been waiting. Clarissa shrugged and said, "It really doesn't matter to me. I'm in no rush to get to my next class."It was just her P.E. class, really. The coach didn't care. Rather, if the coach did care, then Clarissa didn't, not with her dedication to Bayville High's cheerleading team. Mr. Knott appeared, looking confused at seeing Clarissa and the named Ms. Foster standing right outside his door. Clarissa smiled at the teacher and said, "Sorry, Sir, but the notice on the bulletin board said for students to go to you if we had questions about getting the Halloween Dance planned. So, here I am. What do we need to do to make sure that the dance takes place?"

Tag: Clarissa Jenkins Nightcrawler:knott Words: 171 The other student didn't seem to mind Willow's appearance at all, as far as she was aware, stating that she wasn't in any rush to get to her next class, which honestly sounded nice. Willow would definitely need to ask Mr. Knott for a hall pass for her next period.
Mr. Knott himself actually appeared, no doubt about to go on a break or something and of course was confronted with a couple of his students instead. Willow let the other student speak first, even though she did give Mr. Knott a sheepish nod when he asked if she had a question on the homework. Regardless, the other student had been waiting longer, so Willow took a step back as the other began talking.
Willow didn't hang back too long, since the other student mentioned the possibility of the Halloween Dance. "Oh, I saw that notice too," Willow said. To both the teacher and the other student, Willow added, "I would love to help as well. A Halloween Dance sounds fun!"

Ah, the Halloween Dance. That explained it.
(And Ms. Foster did indeed nod when he asked whether she had questions on the homework, but Ms. Jenkins spoke first.)
"Yes, indeed, I somewhat volunteered to be the head of the Halloween Dance committee," Mr. Knott said. "I believe I'm one of the few teachers who actually enjoyed the Halloween Dance. However, the interest in the dance has been waning in the past couple of years, so the staff this year has decided to see if there is enough interest in wanting the dance to take place and, if so, interest in doing a fundraiser for it.
"It's been a bit of a vicious cycle," the teacher continued. "Fundraising efforts in the past few years haven't been well received, so ticket prices for the dance rose to accommodate the decorations and refreshments, but higher ticket prices meant less sales." He shrugged to end his little spiel.
"If you wish to have the Halloween Dance," he said to the students, "I will support you with whatever kind of fundraiser you wish to do for it." ( Clarissa Jenkins Critter open!)

♡ Color Clarissa surprised when Mr. Knott admitted to actually enjoying the Halloween Dance (and somewhat volunteering for the committee this year, whatever that meant) and he gave a brief and concise explanation as to why the Halloween Dance was up in the air for Bayville High this year. It seemed that the new principal and other staff members were actually looking closer at the school's budget than previous years. She supposed she couldn't blame them, but also why potentially cut something that was supposed to be for the students' enjoyment? Before Clarissa could respond, the other student mentioned how she also noticed the flyer for the dance and volunteered to help as well. Clarissa wasn't sure if she wanted to put in the work, but she did like the Halloween Dance, so maybe she could foist much of this off on the other student. She seemed enthusiastic enough, anyway. "Okay, thank you, Mr. Knott," Clarissa said, glancing at the other student. "I'll see if we can round up a few others to brainstorm fundraiser ideas and get back to you."To the other student, Clarissa said, "I'm Clarissa Jenkins, by the way. I don't think I've seen you in any of my classes. Perhaps we can work together on this...?"God, she hoped the other student wouldn't be annoying.

Tag: Clarissa Jenkins Nightcrawler:knott Words: 188 Willow listened as Mr. Knott explained the school's reasonings for making the Halloween Dance a student-led fundraiser goal this year. It was a little disappointing that the dance wasn't a sure thing but she supposed it made sense.
"Thank you for explaining," Willow said to the teacher. "Do you know about how much we should raise in order to have the dance?"
The other student thanked the teacher as well, and then introduced herself to Willow. Willow smiled up at her and reached out for a handshake. "I'm Willow Foster. It's good to meet you. I'm absolutely willing to work with you on this. Maybe one of the fundraising efforts we can do is a bake sale. I love baking, and I'm sure I can get a couple of other friends to help out with it."
She ripped off a small piece of paper from the bottom of her homework packet and scribbled her phone number down on it for Clarissa. "Here, so we can keep in touch for this. Oh, Mr. Knott, sorry for ripping the homework..."
Perhaps she should have gotten a piece of notebook paper.

Both students seemed to take his explanation in stride, although Ms. Foster appeared to be a touch more enthusiastic about the idea of fundraisers than Ms. Jenkins. Considering the difference in their grades, Mr. Knott guessed that Ms. Jenkins had a bit more on her plate than Ms. Foster did and that probably played a part in their respective responses.
"I'm trying to convince those on the school's budget committee to help match whatever fundraising efforts the students reach," Mr. Knott said, "should there have been any interest in a dance at all. I would say a good goal would be between three and five hundred dollars. If the committee is willing to match, then the dance will have the fanciest refreshments. But, if not, then the refreshments will still be tasty."
He nodded when the girls thanked him for the explanation and was pleased when Ms. Jenkins immediately introduced herself to Ms. Foster, the pair meeting for the first time and willing to work together on a common goal.
He was then instantly amused when Willow impulsively ripped part of her homework paper to give Clarissa her number, and promptly apologized for doing such a thing. "Ms. Foster, believe me, in all my years of teaching, I've seen homework packets in much worse states. I believe you had a question, as well? I'll try to answer it quickly while writing out passes for the pair of you." ( Clarissa Jenkins Critter)
