Description: Noelle is a fit woman, having worked out after giving birth to her son, and she's kept up with a moderate exercise routine (especially if one considers how energetic her son is). She has a lean, trim figure and reaches about five feet, eight inches tall when she's not wearing heels. Her hair and eyes are a dark brown, and her hair is generally on the shorter side, usually not growing any farther than her shoulders. Her wardrobe consists of professional clothes, such as wrinkle-free slacks and blouses, but she does wear the occasional jeans and t-shirt look for days off.
Personality: Noelle is a business woman through and through. She's the type of lady to always give 110% to whatever task she's working on, and she expects others around her to do the same. She's friendly and confident to strangers and colleagues alike, and God forbid you try to belittle or talk down to her. She knows she's good at what she does and has a lot of pride in how she's taken cared of her little family throughout the years. If someone doesn't like her, it's not going to bother her. In fact, she's rather used to it considering how much of an activist she is for people's rights, mutants and non-mutants alike.
This woman is the dependable and ambitious sort, doing her absolute best to get ahead in her career in order to make a better life for herself and her son. As such, Noelle may seem a little overbearing when it comes to the teenagers under her care or her writing deadlines. Nevertheless, she loves her job, both writing and working with teenagers at school, and doesn't imagine herself switching careers anytime soon.
Her ambition sometimes holds her back from being social and it can be a bit difficult for her to make friends. She's also not one to look for love or romantic prospects considering how she had been heartbroken years ago, and focuses more on her son and her career. If a special someone came along, she's not sure how she would react, but she would like to think that she would give that person a chance.
Powers: Irrelevant, as she's human.
Weaknesses: Noelle is human and has all the general weaknesses -- literal not-so-thick skin, susceptible to illnesses, etc. She also has an obvious soft spot for her son Mason, and hates seeing anyone bullied or discriminated against, especially young mutants.
Skills/Hobbies: As a journalist, Noelle is a gifted writer. She writes mostly non-fiction but she has been dabbling in fiction as well. She's also well-read and does her best to keep up-to-date on the news. Noelle is an excellent teacher, to students and to herself, and is usually trying to learn something new. She's also fairly proficient with biology, particularly on the subject of mutation, due to her son.
History: Noelle was born to Gage and Brenda Cross during the Christmas season. The little family got along well, and Noelle grew up with plenty of love and support. A sense of independence, being able to care for herself out in the world, was instilled in her from the very beginning of her life. Her parents encouraged Noelle to not only follow her dreams but to work hard for them as well. Noelle did well with her studies and got into her first-choice college, where she met and graduated with her soon-to-be husband Donovan Perez.
Their son Mason was born while the proud parents were in Chicago, Illinois in the U.S. of A. The couple were fresh out of college with he an acting major and she a journalist. Noelle and Donovan decided to move to Los Angeles, California when Mason was about three years old for better job opportunities for the pair of them. It was in Los Angeles that Donovan scored a few small-time acting gigs that helped pay the bills, with Noelle supplementing their income with her newspaper articles. The family got along fairly well and energetic Mason was never wanting.
Eventually, however, Donovan began to stay later at auditions and rehearsals. Noelle didn't mind at first, but she soon realized that the family was not getting paid any further for the extra work that he was putting in. After an ugly confrontation, it was found out that Donovan was cheating on Noelle with an actress on his latest set. The couple divorced and Noelle won full custody of eight-year-old Mason. She decided to keep her married name due to business reasons and to have the same name as her son. Immediately, Noelle moved Mason and herself to Tampa, Florida. Mason and his mother were very close, and he grew up well, making decent friends while his mother supported them with her writing as she worked toward a teaching degree in order to better herself for her son.
Eventually the pair had to move again. When he was fifteen years old, Mason's mutation began to show itself by shedding his skin as he went through a growth spurt. Noelle was called by the school nurse to come and pick him up, explaining that Mason must have a serious dandruff problem for his friends found large chunks of his shedded skin in the boys locker room after they showered at the end of gym class.
She was soon called a second time on her way to the school by the principal himself. Supposedly, the nurse had fainted after Mason had "rapidly painted himself to blend in with her wallpaper to scare her."
Noelle had done a fair amount of writing work and studying regarding mutants, and she took her son being a mutant in stride, taking charge of the situation. With all the commotion that Mason had caused, Noelle thought it would be best to pull him out of that school system and get a fresh start elsewhere with this new development in their lives. Being a pro at moving by now, the mother and son duo went to New York City, where Mason did his best not to shed or show off his camouflaging ability. Things were going well enough for the next year and Mason's mother completed her teaching degree, gaining the license to teach in the state of New York.
The pair moved one final time to Bayville, New York, where Noelle accepted a teaching position as an English teacher as well as Mason being recruited into Xavier's Institute.
First Appearance Scene: Going with Mason, I figured both characters could be seen around the Bayville High, with them getting the last of Noelle's paperwork and Mason's transfer nonsense out of the way.
